Dust refund possible?

Hi!

I’m a long time user of blizzard’s platform and games. I’ve played all kinds of content they provided throughout the years. I got the urge to get back into ranked hearthstone yesterday, after watching streams and noticing the current cards and thinking they look right up my alley, super fun!

I decided to craft myself a deck from all the dust I gathered up over the years. 7000 dust in I realize I’m not able to get all the cards I need to keep the deck viable. I started looking into it and realized, that unless I’m mistaken, I’m now required to spend 20$ to stay competetive while playing archetypes I enjoy.

I don’t mind putting down a few bucks to a company that has given me so much joy throughout the years (and I’ve done so many times as well) but right now I’m in no economic position to justify doing so.

In conclusion;
*I’m sad to see them leaving the free to play platform and moving towards a pay to win arena.
*Does anyone know if there’s any way to get refunded the dust spent, since it’s now spent on an incomplete deck with no value. I will most likely return once I can pay for the cards, or when the game is fully free-to-play again, and at that point it would be nice not starting from 0 dust.

Thank you and god bless.

very unlikely, but since there is no official person from blizzard here, we can’t give you any definitive answers here. you can try your luck by contacting support (if you don’t know how, say so and I’ll explain).

about the 20 bucks thing. I’m assuming that you’re talking about the adventure. while you’re correct that you can’t craft those cards, you don’t have to pay money to get the adventure. you can buy each wing for 700g (although you can only buy them in order 1 through 4 (or however many wings there are)).

I don’t know much about the adventure cards but I’d venture a guess that you can replace whatever card is locked behind the adventure. for this I suggest asking for advice here and there’ll surely be someone to help.

Thanks for the good advice. I was going to contact them directly at first, but couldn’t find a good platform to do so. I was pretty much directed here for feedback.

You’re right about what you’re saying. I would have to muster up 2100 gold in total to get the cards I need for the decks I want to play, which I might be able to do before the next expansion launches.

If you have any idea who I might turn this message to I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

yea over time I’ve kept reading this, but this forum is no place to get help. you can talk to other players, but that’s about it. since I don’t know the way to submitting a web ticket by heart I gotta look it up every time and this time I noticed that they made it substantially harder to get to the point where you can reach them directly.

however, a disclaimer about this issue: you won’t get a refund. you can ask, but prepare to be turned down. they only give out refunds in case of technical issues, which yours is not. you made a decision and regretted it afterwards. imagine what would happen if they gave out refunds to everyone in this situation. it would be a mess.

but as a customer it is your right to ask and here’s how:

  1. scroll up to the top of this page and click on “support”, which is to the left of your screen name
  2. click “hearthstone”
  3. click “account & in-game”
  4. click “contact support”
  5. click “I would rather categorize the issue” (it’s underneath the text box in blue color)
  6. click “account & in-game”
  7. click “not listed here”
  8. click “contact us” (the small box at the bottom)
  9. you’ve finally arrived at the screen on which you can choose via which way to contact support.

I suggest a web ticket, which is the default option. I’ve received excellent support every time but once (in which case I got some packs for compensation later on), so those people are really good in my opinion.

I’ve never tried live chat nor phone callback, so I’ve no idea about those.

by the way, which deck did you want to craft and which adventure card(s) do you need for that?

Thanks for all the help.
Also I’m fine with not getting refunded. Honestly, mostly I wanted to vent my opinion of their new ways of implementing cards. I’ve always been able to play what I want to because I’ve been active enough to afford it with in-game currency.

I noticed the highlander reno decks mostly, they look like so much fun. Once I see something I really like I just craft it and mash games with the deck until it gets boring… which is usually a few hundred games lol. “The amazing Reno” is a big part of what makes it look fun, which unfortunately is one of those cards unobtainable to me at the moment. “Escaped manasaber” is another, but that one I could find a replacement for.

I hear ya.

I mean it sucks that they locked cards behind an adventure, but I looked the dust value up and at least you’d be getting slightly better value for your gold.

the whole adventure (which you’d have to buy to get reno) gives you 3030 dust for 2800 gold. that’s a ratio of 1.08 dust per 1 gold.

the usual assumptions of dust value from packs that I’ve seen are between 0.95 and 1.06 dust per 1 gold.

if you bought 28 packs with that 2800 gold, you could get much more than that of course, but also a lot less. but the adventure’s dust value is guaranteed. so there’d be no bad surprises.

I don’t wanna advertise the adventure to you though. I have not bought it and will not buy it, so I’ve no idea how the gameplay or the cards are. just wanted to provide a perspective that you might not have thought of. in any case, good luck!

The irony being that this “new way” you speak of, is actually them returning to the old way

Getting the 2100 is eadier then ever tbh.

You get at least 60 every day with your dailies. I hardly played 30 games this month (if at all) and got a couple of 100ths.

May i ask what you spend your gold on?

Are you an arena player?

If not i find it highly more effective to save xour gold for every expansion ad t launch and get as much packs as possible.

Since im doing this i hardly spent a dime on the game and im easily able to craft many things except the top decks of classes i get really unlucky to get epics or legendaries (kn looking at you rogue >:( )

I have no trouble getting the 2100 over time while I’m actively playing ranked. I usually save it up for a new expansion to buy tons of packs, just as you say. The issue this time around was that not all of the cards are obtainable from packs or crafting, but only through solo adventure. This of course wouldn’t have been an issue if I knew about it beforehand, and used the gold to buy the adventures instead.

I have been playing battlegrounds exclusively for a while, which hardly yields any gold, and now wanted to get back into ranked. I wasn’t a fan of the ranked archetypes for a while, but now it’s looking really enjoyable, which is why I wanted to get back into it.

Well tbh midway through the final expansion of the year is a terrible time to try and get back into standard. You’re much better off waiting until the next expansion, when everything will change and you decks are guaranteed to be standard usable for a year.

As true as that is, I play when I get the urge to, which is generally when I discover a fun meta or deck. Usually I self sustain dust either way, I guess I just messed up this time around.
