So I’ve played 14 games today and 10 out of those 14 have had Elementals in the lobby, everyone is forcing them and I mean every single player. Top 4 players all elemental.
Fix the broken cards and make the game more optimal please.
I understand they are ridiculously overpowered right now but it’s incredibly boring seeing the whole lobby forcing Elementals because of how overpowered they are.
If everyone forces them, they can’t all get them. It means you can get the optimal stuff for other builds quite easily.
I don’t enjoy playing Elementals as they are, its not fun but unfortunately trinkets allow hell of alot more then the game would usually allow.
Right now only mechs and elementals can improve the power of their buffs for free.
Looking at Lightspawn, Repair Bot, and electro to some extent.
Lightspawn buffs the buffs, directly. Repair bot buffs the power of booms monster for free, Electron with spells but it’s too powerful at full board magnetized with only 2 spells.
Some other cards/tribes can too, but they require money spent, and can’t keep up, because they don’t generate economy unlike pirates.
Pirates, Undead, Beasts can’t scale at all in example. Their buffing values stay the same and can’t be improved (Silithid Burrower is a sad joke). You get +1+1 on turn 3, you get +1+1 on turn 15 if you ever get there.
The weaker/useless tribes like undead either need their buffs scalable, or elementals and mechs need to be toned down.
Keep in mind that I’m not mentioning highrolls or anything, this is just pure game design.
Right now it’s flawed because the “buff buffing” mechanic was not introduced for all tribes, while for some tribes it’s too slow and way too expensive.
Naga also don’t have end game scaling. The end of turn spell guy is a joke. Bring back Naala, make her improvable, and we can talk business.
Some classes are silly for sure, the biggest issue FOR me is how much the trinkets and minions choices can vary in strength. you can be out by turn 8 without doing anything wrong because you got week choices. Maybe they want to remove battlegrounds and make it like this.
Game is unplayble mechs and elementals thats it nothing else!!! I hate this patch!!!
This does not matter when the elemental player is getting +200 / 200 to their elementals every turn without even having to do anything on their turn, they could literally walk
away from their PC and win - as I literally just experienced before coming here to see others opinion
I think this might be my biggest issue with this patch and trinkets, specifically. The game is not fair when it comes to choices and you can try and do the best you can, but some other player who got best trinkets will destroy you just because of RNG. Compared to Anomalies (not saying those were perfect) where everybody was starting on equal footing, when it comes to this patch you can try and do your best, but the game will gatekeep you from that. Also, the balance between classes and how everyone chases elementals/mechs (and ocasionally quills and menagerie) makes it so that even if you want to try something else, the spike in power of those tribes will eliminate you eventually.
disliked the trinkets during the first season they appeared, for this exact reason. Gutted that they brought them back.
I mean, at what trash rating are you guys playing? I’ve went over elems in another topic, but even mechs are too much for you? I’ve been out of top 4 with Electron on the table, simply because I didn’t have spells to spin it. Not to mention the times where I didn’t live to see Electron or second trinket, because other tribes/trash heaps scaled faster, and I’ve lost every fight.
Beasts that don’t scale is a new one too. Ever got overrun by 100/100+ beetles? That could happen even without Catacomb Crasher, which is now also nerfed.
Economy and minion rolls matter way more than the tribe you’ve picked.
Not to mention knowing what to do.
So, um, git gud.
The tribes are not the problem, its that most games are won by whoever gets the best luck of the draw with the trinkets.
Quite funny seeing the nerfs to those specific tribes that you mentioned are not so op. Guess everybody played on trash mmr and also streamers were destroying lobbies using those tribes before the nerfs. Think about the accesibility of a tribe and how easy it can scale compared to others, instead of posting your own RNG experience and being condescending.
The nerfs showed you that those tribes were OP with the scaling kit they had. Also, as someone mentioned it is redundant how you play the game when the trinket system makes it unfair from the moment they unlock. Too many RNG mechanics stop the game from actually having a strategy component and planning your moves falls on the second place compared to getting that best trinket

ye nice try xD when everyone is forcing 1 or 2 tribe, i still cant find decent stuff of the other… hello rng… its just rigged at this point. 4/8 play elementals, 3 play mechs… and i cant find any undead or other tribe…
So what you’re saying, at your MMR everyone is so bad, that they can’t utilize tribes that scale quicker at early/mid game and punish those aiming for late game, before they get to ZE SPINNING?
The fact that you decided to “mock” me when replying it shows that you lack arguments and critical thinking. When talking about scalling in a tribe you need to think about the potential of all the scalling for all tribes on equal footing and both tribes had imense on paper scalling. The fact that you say “copium” and mock does not validate your point of view, just shows people you lack critical and analytical thinking and people like you are the guinee pigs of this world
What a silly response. I’ve been sitting at around 8-9k rating for the past week and a half. I wouldn’t say I’m pro player by any means but I have played BG’s since release and only seeing this game mode getting worse and worse.
The nerfs have helped but let’s be honest there are plenty of tribes that need work and the trinkets need to be flat out removed.
There is no skill base anymore only players that have enough time to gain rating, if you play alot your going to gain a slight rating increase day by day if played correctly and at high ratings, not to mention at higher rating a win is only a very small amount of rating when a loss can be considered dramatically high in comparison to what you gain from a top 3 placement.
In conclusion battlegrounds is very stale and has been for sometime now, whether your a good player or not. I wish they would strip the game back to basics when skill played a factor, yes the game is RNG based but having it 90% RNG based with anomalies/trinkets, it’s all complete randomisers. Nothing feels original anymore, it’s all been done before.
Exactly the point I was trying to explain to the individual that posted this. The fact that people complaining about elementals and mechs are not living in a echo chamber, but actually thought how the game would work when every tribe is on equal footing.
Also, the whole meta with trinkets is very annoying and, personally, a lot of times, it makes me feel like some games I am not meant to place in top 4 or win simply based on the RNG that others got when it cames to their trinkets (not saying that every game I play I take the best decisions and I am “robbed”)
Battlegrounds is like a lotto scratch card, the outcome is already pre-determined before you play. With the trinkets its easy for the game to force the outcome and if you are not supposed to place top 4 the game will make sure you don’t. Have you ever played duos where you have been in the 1v1, you are chipping away every turn, then suddenly your team switches who attacks first but the other team doesn’t or the other team switches first attacker and yours doesn’t. the game is far from random.
