Blizzard — this monetization strategy is not sustainable. As a long-time Hearthstone player from the EU, I’m genuinely asking: why are Signature and Diamond cards locked behind overpriced, one-time bundles?
Here’s what you should do — and it would benefit everyone:
The Fix:
- Cut Signature & Diamond card prices by ~70%
- Bring back all cosmetics in 6-month rotations, just like Fortnite or Valorant
- Remove FOMO mechanics and “limited-time” trickery
Why It Makes Business Sense:
- Right now, 95% of the playerbase refuses to spend — because the pricing is insane.
- If you lowered the price, you’d sell to thousands instead of dozens.
- Reintroducing cosmetics every 6 months builds trust, increases engagement, and generates more consistent revenue — without alienating players.
Why It Matters in the EU:
Several EU countries are already cracking down on gambling-style monetization and manipulative practices in digital games.
This current model? Aggressive FOMO, paywalls, and no reruns.
That’s a red flag under evolving EU consumer laws.
You’re poking the bear — and you don’t need to.
Fortnite Already Solved This
- Cosmetics rotate in and out.
- No FOMO panic, no $158 bundles.
- People are happy to spend because they trust the shop will return. Why can’t Hearthstone do the same?
Please stop milking this game to death. You’re not just killing goodwill — you’re suffocating one of the most creative card games ever made.
Players want to collect cool cosmetics. Let them — fairly.
