Few questions from a returning player

Hi all.
I did not play this game for at least half year,or more,started again about 2 days ago.Was a quite old but pretty casual player before.So now i played the adventure content what i missed then made a no minion mage deck from my old cards (have nothing from last 2 expansions except the few i got now in these 2 days).Went from bronze 10 to gold 6 with it.So my questions are the following,if anyone could enlighten me please:
1.i reached level 15 in the new reward system and got a tavern ticket or what,no idea what its use and there was no info in game either,so what is this ticket,please?
2.I completed all my quests except one weekly what was something Battlegrounds related,and i do not feel like have dedication or time learning a new game mode(tried it once for an event quest and not liked it).Aborted quest but got another Battlegrounds thing.So questions is,one weekly quest always Battlegrounds,or i am just unlucky and lets try to reroll over and over?
3.How good is no minion mage archetype in other people opinion?I like it because it is fun to play,but ofc it loses badly to all aggro most of the time.My deck is a f2p one,i do not have those legendary spells for mage for example.Is there any other controlish style deck around what can be made on a budget,without tons of new cards?(I do not like playing aggro.)
4:how is wild mode looks like nowadays,scary?(i did not play wild for at least a year now ,was scared away a bit.)

Welcome back friend, glad to see another mage player. My favourite decks at the moment are No Minion Mage and Highlander Mage. I’ll pick some of your questions up which I know the answers to.

  1. The tavern ticket can be used as a free entry into Arena. Usually it’s cost 150 gold or £2.99 (I think). It can also be used in the new game mode called Duels. I don’t play that mode too much, seems ok though if you have a big card collection to draw from.

  2. Keep re-rolling, you’ll get another quests eventually. Battlegrounds took me a while to understand what the heck was going on but it is very popular. I prefer Standard but a lot of people only play BG now.

  3. I may not be the best person to answer this question as I am biased. I think No Minion Mage is brilliant. Got me to legend this month but I’m am running all the legendary cards. Deck of Lunacy is a must in my opinion, as is CThun. I will add that at legend rank, I do get my butt kicked quite often now so I play other decks as well. I am not sure what cheap decks there are, I think all cheap decks are aggro but I may be wrong. I would look on the HS replay and see what decks are cheap and what you can build with your collection.

  4. I don’t play wild so don’t know much about it. Wild looks too scary.

So this new duel mode is paid too?i did not even check that yet,guess i will not if it is not free.(This game is very expensive for my countrys standard,so i am stick to be f2p.)
I checked HS replay a little but felt overloaded with confusing info since i do not know last 2 expansions cards at all.Wrote down one deck,a quest rogue one ,since i have the quest,addicted to play fun decks only,and loved playing thief rogue earlier.Did not try it yet,but probably will,just it seemed even weaker against all aggro,than mage,plus the mage deck fitted better to complete my quests.
Can you post here your decks for mage please,so i can see how to improve my deck?I would like to try HL mage too,but can make only another budgetish version ,similar the one what was given to new players some time ago.It was a dragon deck,mostly with Year of Dragon cards,probly outdated for now.
My collection from previous year and outland expansion is ok,at least regarding commons and rares,but from the last 2 i have only few cards what i got in last 2 days,while reached lv 16 or so in the new reward system.

Reaffirmation:

  1. Let’s you play arena/heroic duels (new mode which is basic pvp dungeon runs except you chose the starting few cards)

  2. Unlucky, there’s only 2 battleground specific and one other non ranked one I think.

  3. Solid T2 deck, which means you can probably get to diamond 5 on a budget version if you master it.

  4. Wild doesn’t really change, that’s kinda the point, so just as scary as before, which isn’t that scary at low ranks.

My advice to you would be to hold fire on creating any new cards/decks unless you have the funds/resources to do it. We have a mini expansion landing soonish plus the next major expansion lands in a few months and lots of changes will happen. There will be set rotations, and cards perhaps going to the Hall of fame.

The point is that if a deck is doing well now, it may not have longevity so you could be wasting your resources. As you have mentioned, Hearthstone ain’t cheap.

It’s really good when it’s running well but not indestructible, as are all decks.

Just curious,Cthun does not mess up ofter with the no minion criteria?Because i find Font of power super useful to play as early as i can,and plan after i see all 3 i got,if there is something useful.(got Antonidas few times for example ,if i see him i know i am winning unless against heaviest aggro).
What is this mini expansion you mentioned please,is this a paid adventure like Galakrond awakening,or what?

C’Thun splits into 4 pieces at the start of the game so they are extra spells. He doesn’t count as a minion. If you look me up on YouTube I have quite a few videos with the deck in action.

I am not sure what the mini expansion is, there are no details. Blizzard have just confirmed one is landing mid expansion. We just have to wait and see.

Casual duels is free but has no rewards (outside XP for playing).

Is there any news on the mini expansion?

When is it landing and what cards are coming? I haven’t seen anything.

Aha,thanks for info ,i saw those 4 pieces when played against it,but did not know there is no minion in deck for it,since i do not have the card.
