Final thoughts before release?

What are your final thoughts / predictions before the release?

Personally i think hunters, paladins and rogues look pretty strong. I will definitely be playing a Secret Paladin deck, also the priest deck we saw on Kibler’s stream looks fun to play after a long time of spell heavy priest decks.

I’ve been looking forward to the Burgle Rogue synergies, both in Standard and in Wild. I’m also digging the Heal Druid archetype they’ve got brewing.

Also a Warrior deck of mine is gonna need some boom in it. Thankfully the expansion provides.

All in all, I’m excited to start building some decks!

EDIT: I also just noticed a certain card since I didn’t catch all of the livestream yesterday: Whirlwind Tempest. That one makes me think one thing: Rockbiter Weapon Mega-Windfury Al’Akir. All of my yes!

Well ill delete all of my decks except 2 wild decks which might get new toys and make everything from the scratch.

The alakir thing sounds amazing  sadly i went to the pub and didnt see the mega windfury minion in action.

All in all my first “real” rotation so im pretty excited

I’m feeling very positive about this expansion. Not only because the cards revealed look promising and not too ridiculous but also because three of the most powerful sets of the past two years are rotating out. Along with Genn and Baku a year early. And because of that it’s next to impossible to predict the meta. But people have theirycrafted that this is going to be more midrange and value focused meta.

Secret Paladin is going to be a thing, considering all the support it has received. Zoo Warlock seems to continue thriving. Midrange Hunter may still live on and Deathrattle Hunter is going to change a lot. Priest continues being annoying. Shame that Warrior got even more mech support, even bombs, because it’s not my cup of tea. I want Rush Warrior to succeed. :frowning:

Burgle Rogue also got a huge boost this expansion. I don’t have any strong opinions of Mage, Shaman (it can’t get any worse than it is now, though) or Druid, except that Druid going to be WAY less annoying than before.

Does anyone els think that paladin looks kinda weak? The new secret support isn’t that strong i think and what good is the new dragon legendary anyways? I would appreciate any responses.

Yeah , i am looking at this deck and the only win condition i can see is one of the secret keepers snowballing out of control.

If you dont draw the right cards at the start you have a full hand of 1 cost secrets.

I sometimes forget that some secrets are wild only and i play around them in standard :stuck_out_tongue:

I think secret aggro Paladin is actually gona be a very strong deck.

That deck in the link looks pretty terrible. So many of the cards are trying to get value and there’s no way to sustain it when your forced to run so many “bad cards”. But a pure aggro deck looks solid…even if it does seem to have that Keleseth style swing based on whether or not you hit the 3/4 on turn 2 sigh

The “fun” stuff, does look trash unfortunately but I’ve been purposely avoiding the early play content people have been pumping out, so I could be wrong :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m curious about the power of Silence Priest in Wild. This exp features some good cards for the archetype, specially the “Silence & copy a friendly minion” spell, the 3 cost 5/6 “Can’t attack unless you have spell damage”, and the 3 cost 5/1 “Copy a friendly minion health”.

Might have a good flow of aggression in a Wild deck with the correct minion/silence balance. But I’m not too hyped, 'cause from experience it’s pretty vulnerable to bad RNG. A hand full of “can’t attack” minions with no silences, or full of silences and almost 0 minions has few chances against both aggro and control decks in Wild.

Edit: Missplacement of double quotes.

It’s next to impossible to predict the meta due to the three most dominating sets from the past two years rotating out. But I feel more comfortable predicting what types of decks will be tried at release.

Secret Paladin - Lots of new tools for the archetype and Never Surrender! is a very powerful Secret. Sunreaver Spy will be a staple part of the deck, more so for Paladin than other Secret classes due to the mana cost of the card and secrets. Mysterious Blade is also basically Fiery War Axe as long as you got a Secret on the board. And we all know how powerful that weapon was. Commander Rhyssa is of course going to be used and tested in the deck but whether she will be good enough with our current Secrets is unclear because about half of the current Paladin Secrets won’t trigger twice. But whether these cards are going to be enough remains to be seen. People will try at the very least. I personally have high hopes for this archetype.

Burgle Rogue - The archetype got a huge boost this expansion and will most definitely be one of the most played decks in the game at launch, most likely even the most played Rogue deck. Thanks to cards such as, Hench-Clan Burglar, which helps you against other Rogues, Underbelly Fence, and Vendetta. Tak Nozwhisker is going to be another fun, even game winning, meme card for it if nothing else.

Bomb/Mech Warrior - Not looking forward to this one AT ALL. But many seem to like the idea of this archetype; with Wrenchcalibur and Clockwork Goblin it’s going to be relatively easy to put bombs into your opponent’s deck and get value from Blastmaster Boom. And due to the Mech synergies Dr. Boom, Mad Genius, is going to be even more relevant. Mech Warrior is going to be the most played Warrior deck. Personally I hoped Rush Warrior got more support…

Imp Zoo Warlock - Zoo decks have always been strong at the start of expansions due to people not knowing what other archetypes can/will work in the meta and Zoo decks are easy to make. So, until people have discovered those, Zoo warlock is going to be very popular thanks to cards such as Rafaam’s Scheme, Mad Summoner, Impferno and their ultimate win condition; Jumbo Imp. It’s going to be relatively easy for Warlocks to play and summon imps, buff them with Impferno and Grim Rally and reduce the cost of Jumbo Imp and Demonbolt for bigger target removal.

Deathrattle Mech Hunter - While I believe that Midrange Hunter will stick around due to Springpaw still being in Standard enabling Scavenging Hyena, it is certainly going to become weaker due to Candleshot, Crackling Razormaw and Dire Mole rotating out (losing Deathstalker Rexxar is not as big of a deal in the long run). What people will try to make work is a new Deathrattle Hunter relying more on Deathrattle synergy cards, such as Oblivitron and Nine Lives and their synergies with powerful Deathrattle Mechs, most notably Spider Bomb and Mechanical Whelp. Ursatron will also be at least experimented with. I’m not expecting more Tempo/Value focused Spell Hunter using Vereesa Windrunner to see much success.

Tempo/Burn Mage - Might make a comeback thanks to cheap spells such as Magic Trick and Ray of Frost, and minions like Magic Dart Frog and most notably Mana Cyclone. These cards are the reason why Mana Wyrm was nerfed, people! Mana Reservoir also looks pretty good for this deck. And due to these spells being so cheap something like Kirin Tor Tricaster might be experimented with, but whether it’s good enough we’re just have to see. And with all these Spell Damage buff cards around even Arcane Watcher may see experimentation. Stargazer Luna is also still in Standard, so you have a card drawing engine even without Aluneth. Lots of options and possibilities!

As for the other classes I didn’t mention; I have no strong opinions or comments for those. Priest will continue being annoying and Druid less so. Shaman will play Murlocs. Duh!

Quite impressive how close some people actually were in hindsight.
