Game balance and why a casual player quits

I guess the game is solved just like chess. But even chess fells more friendly to newbie players becasue you rarely lose by 4th turn.

I had this incident today. I have 4 mana he has 22dmg on board and I’m drawing dead I belive. And even if im somehow not dead this turn I would be dead on the next one.

BTW is this the best possible shaman opening?

I came back to the game after 8th years. I used to find the game intersting for a year or so while we were playing it with friends back then. A friend lured me back into it a week ago. By the time I started playing it he was already quiting it again. I was like wtf man it can’t be that bad. And he was like it is that bad people legit kill each other with 4-5 mana half of the games. The game is dead and it’s also pay to win/invest all your time.

I stomped some bots in classic mode and I was so confused that I’m not playing vs real people that I decided to get to Legend and see if there are real players there. Nope even in legend 90% of the games are against bots they are just playing the best deck I guess. Some zookeeper I belive it was called.

Anyway I decided to try the new cards and stuff. 4th game I bumped into this insane opening. It’s not even close to playeble. 11/11 with 2 mana and then 22dmg on board with 3 mana I’m legit dead next turn no matter what I do.

And the craziest part is IDK if this guy is even a human xD.
BTW PCs are better then humans in chess so why wouldn’t they be better in hearthstone as well right?

I love my memories from 8th years back when spawning River Crocolisk on second turn felt somewhat good. Or when I would die from out of cards dmg while my opponent is on 1hp.

Maybe game wasn’t solved back then. Or maybe balance team still exsisted.

And that’s why I quit this game again.

There are no bots in Standard.Because you can report them now. Maybe in Classic because very few play the mode nowadays.

If you think Standard is too cutthroat, you can play Arena. Hearthstone is still a tempo game, and it’s skill-based-knowing when to trade and when to go face, calculating reach, going for card advantage, efficient mana spending, etc.

But you have to know the cards. You just have to know what minions and spells you’re up against, so you are able to guesstimate your opponent’s possibilities on a given turn and develop your board accordingly.

Mage is very strong in Arena in the current season.

You can even play this week’s Tavern Brawl. It’s totally casual, and exemplifies my point.
The same tempo game, but with minions and spells that are probably unfamiliar to you.

For instance, Peon is the same River Croc with an upside.

There are loads of bots in standard… wake up

Perhaps I’m mistaken, but I know how bots behave; they attack at fixed intervals.
I have seen maybe one outside of Classic in the last few months.

But let’s say I’m wrong, and there’s a new breed that I’m unfamiliar with.

The bots I face then are always courteous. They care to reply to my hellos. The more conscientious bots make sure to send me a friend’s request at the end of a match, and even ask how my mom is doing. Though not always on the nicest terms.

Since the report was added I e come across way fewer bots in wild and especially standard but I still faced maybe half a dozen in the months since it was added.

I am quit like long ago and I am not even casual…I just use a friend to complete the quests fast, press x for the ones that require to actually play the game, press the quit button and spit on the screen for even having a Blizzard game in it :)…After that I knee and hope to God that the developers of this game, die in agony , agony that spreads like a plague over to their families and they all disappear like a freaking nightmare from the planet  .

It makes me feel so good after that I start my day with a boost of energy…Of course I have to clean my monitor after spiting on it, but if all the developers would have a cask in front of me I would spit on it instead of the monitor. I mean, dogs like the ones developing HS get burried in caskets right ?

I was thinking like the other day, man I keep on coming on the forums I keep telling my thoughts and all I get is get muted for some days…I mean getting muted is like saying “we heard you, and we don’t like it”…The good part is that someone reads what I say this and I hope that that admin or whatever he is, get’s what I said above :)…And then the next one, and the next one and so on

Oh, please. You’re probably one of Hearthstone’s biggest fans. Such dedication to all this villainy and spite is a little clownish, don’t you think? It’s extraordinary too that you secrete spite instead of spit. But that’s fitting enough, I suppose.

Of course you’ll never share how you really feel because that would destroy your rather carelessly constructed troll exterior.

You made the right decision. To give an example, too many people quit this game as long as there are meaningless decks like neptulon priest deck.I’m sure more ridiculous cards will come in the near future.

Even as a big fan of Hearthstone, it is glaringly obvious that the current meta has all sorts of problems, including mana creep and ridiculous things that would be classed as “cheating” in most other games. After a couple of months of this meta, it is getting increasingly difficult to find motivation to play ladder.

Standard is just non-stop identical decks from 2 or 3 classes once you hit gold and platinum, and wild is pretty much only ramp druids and neptulon priests once you hit platinum. Playing against the same broken decks constantly is not what most people class as a good use of their time. Even Battlegrounds is a lot poorer this season than last and more of a grind. I love this game and have been playing on and off since 2014, but in its current state its not much fun to play.

In this meta, I agree with you.
I think Shaman and Warlock should be nerfed, or The Thaddius Monstrosity reworked. A stupid minion. Now, with Mercenaries reaching its end, the developers should shift their focus to balancing Standard.

Still, Standard is not the only mode. There’s Battlegrounds, Duels and Arena all of which I enjoy much more than the current state of Standard.

I wonder what will happen when United in Stormwind rotates to Wild. Hopefully, they’ll rework Warlock’s questline so that it doesn’t cause grief to Wild players.

Ooooo busted…you saw right through me :face_with_peeking_eye:…Have you taken your pills before writing that comment ?

Now really, you know that internet is only allowed to good patients. Get back to your cell.

Really wonderful review…Excellent BigDaddyRob

Not to mention the perfect draws the russians players have. They are blessed by the rng god at games since the birth! Always by the exploiting way, its sad…

Actually, I do enjoy Standard, but Evolve Shaman is problematic.
Reaching Legend has long lost its luster, because I don’t need the extra packs. I have all the cards, so any extras are just converted to dust.

I’m playing for fun, and I’m content reaching Platinum 5 or Diamond 10 each season.

There are other games I’m playing. Mortal Kombat 11- my favorite fighting game. We’re getting the next installment in April, and I personally can’t wait.

I’m playing through all the Megaman games- timeless platformers that have been made even better through the various Legacy collections, I’m also playing the latest Ratchet&Clank on the PS5. It’s glorious.

There’s no shortage of games that keep me occupied alongside Hearthstone, but HS is my main hobby game.
