I have been a huge fan of Blizzard since the day Warcraft 2 came out. I’ve owned every game they have made, played WoW from beta until the end of Legion, played HS since day one, Diablo 2 is my favourite game of all time.
I’ve had some amazing fun and great experiences since playing Blizzard games, however solely because of the greed and obvious change in the way the company has been run for years now I have genuinely got nothing nice to say about Blizzard these days and I’m truly saddened by that.
The enjoyment that I used to get from this company’s games has genuinely died for me. Hearthstone was the last of their games that I would log on and play every day for some fun however since the release of the utterly broken Demon Hunter class I just refuse to give them a single penny of my money now.
Yes, it’s great that they decided to add the class to the game. That is healthy, however, why add the class to the game and make them so powerful that it genuinely destroys the fun for everyone involved?
Every single card that has been given to this class is above average and in the majority of cases way beyond what any other class in the game has received.
I understand that had the class not been made powerful it would have been a waste of time to introduce it as nobody would want to play it, but is that reason enough to give them every toolkit in the game? The recent nerfs and proposed future changes will do absolutely nothing to hinder their performance.
When you don’t even stand a chance because every card they play is better than anything you could possibly play, what can you do?
This company used to be about making amazing games and giving back to the community that supported them by buying their games. I haven’t seen that happen for at least 5 years at Blizzard and it’s sad. The sheer enjoyment of playing games within the Starcraft, Diablo and Warcraft universe has dwindled to almost non existence and it seems that milking customers for money while constantly releasing games with flavour of the month mechanics that change constantly is actually quite disrespectful to the customer base and also the developers who spent years making Blizzard an amazing company.
Hearthstone isn’t the only game in this type of disarray. I quit WoW during Legion for pretty much the same reason. All that happens with this company these days is that they make one class absolutely overpowered for a short period of time to suck people in and spend money and it’s genuinely sad to see. There is no community involvement from the devs as they are all scared to say anything or reply to their customers because in general most people writing negative things about their games are actually quite hostile, and I don’t blame the devs and community leaders within blizzard for not speaking out.
All you see on the forums these days are people being angry and making their anger very clear with obnoxious language and it’s created a toxic atmosphere that nobody, including blizzard staff and customers who actually love the company wish to be involved with.
I just wanted to say that it is a shame, but it would be nice for Blizzard to acknowledge their customers instead of hiding away and making things worse.
I’m confused. How is making the new class; where everyone can get the cards for free; the most powerful, a sign of greed? Surely if anything it’s the opposite?
Not saying that some of the DH cards were crazy to be released in there original form or that they haven’t made some pure greed decisions (galakrond’s awakening) but I just don’t understand equating the 2.
''but it would be nice for Blizzard to acknowledge their customers instead of hiding away and making things worse. ‘’
Bravo.
I feel you. I will most likely soon post something similar but a little bit more direct. My main point is that if you pay for things that are bad, they will never improve.
Have had the same feeling as you. Greed breaks through in all their games and that’s how it has been since Activision came into the picture. Their generosity when it comes to free packs and more is just one way to attract and manipulate their players.
