Hearthstone Exploit/Cheat

I recently discovered an exploit that is being used by bad players to force a win in Hearthstone.

This player somehow exploited a bug in your game that allowed him to hover a card over the playing field and then run his cursor over his and my cards on the field, also using the hover card to point at the card it was going to be played against for several minutes.

After he did this for a certain amount of time I noticed that the timer did not start and he seemed to leave his computer and the game stayed as it was, in limbo, for 20 minutes until I was forced to leave.

This occurred between 03:10 - 03:30 on the 28th April.

Fix this bug please, as I see no point in bothering to play hearthstone when players can force a win once their health is low by simply out waiting their opponent.

I would also like for you to take some form of action against the player for his behavior.

What actually happened was that you disconnected from the server without realising. It’s a known bug that rarely happens, but if you notice the floating card, just close the game, restart it and you’ll reconnect.

Vlad explained this in much better quality in the old forum, but here’s a simplified version of his explanation (as far as I remember it):

while you play a game, data packages are constantly sent to tell the game what actions take place.

your connection dropped for a very short moment (without you realizing it because it was so short) and a data package went missing.

now the game waits for a package that already got lost and thus it displays the floating card because the data package that would tell the game what to do with that card got lost (without the game itself realizing that apparently).

restarting the client then forces the game to reconnect you and the stream of data gets restored because the game picks it back up where it left off.

Who else knew exactly what the ‘exploit’ would be just by reading the title?

indeed, but in the past there was a similar issue but from my perspective on the board.

when i wanted to kill my opponent upon hovering my card at his face it got stucked and could not select any other cards.
i needed to reconnect and upon entering the game my opponent exploded and i got the win.

this occured every once in a while and i suspected upon hovering over my opponent that he forced a disconnect.

though i never encountered it anymore in the recent expansions.

My guess is that you disconnected but whilst you disconnected, they conceded. So that’s why when you reconnected they exploded.
