Help me understand why you main a class

I mained priest at first, after I got it to 60 there was little appeal for me so I switched to shaman, druid and warrior it was a lot of fun and I realized how weak priest can be in some aspects, made a tempo buff warrior, a ramp control druid, aggro midrange overload and token shamans, then in Un’Goro I started playing everything, it took me so long to develop because I’d only focus on a certain class, for what I know Spidery might still be toddler then XD

I mained hunter, I just got stuck with it, I mained druid, for looooooong, it was the best class ever, went back to playing more diverse, added some zoo once in a while, then I started maining mage, and I think I’ve only played mage druid and warlock for the most part since K&C with some odd rogue and paladin slipping in for a night or two, but those meant nothing for me

I mostly main a class for very little because I feel there is something that works best there, I realize that a certain class could do amazing and since it can I just go for it, try to perfect it, if I can have 75% winrate why have 60%? that’s my point I guess, I play for a purpose and it’s usually to win, not to make weird stuff, I only stop maining a class after I climb to where I wanted

hope this reply was taken as helpful and not as all over the place, since it’s both

I main a Rogue, no doubt about it: I have 1800 Ranked wins with Rogue, my second highest being Warrior with merely 600, then Mage and Paladin with around 350. I generally pick rogue in arena; I got my first 12 arena wins with rogue; most of the times I’ve hit Legend were with rogue. So yeah, definitely my main.

Ironically, rogue was my least favorite class back in the day. It just seemed way too different from all the rest and the popular miracle rogue at the time was not to my taste. So I never played rogue and never picked it in arena. I picked it once in arena just for the hell of it and got my first ever 12 arena wins. I was intrigued and found out I actually hated Miracle Rogue not the rogue class. So it kind of took off from there.

So why do I enjoy it so much?
• Hero Power: I find that the rogue hero power requires a bit more planning than the others, since it’s developed over 2 turns. You not only have to decide when to dagger up, but you have to decide when to keep the dagger and when to attack. Getting this wrong is sometimes the difference between exact lethal later in the game or being 1 damage off. Break the dagger too early against face however, and you might be 1 damage off for securing the board, you lose tempo and then the game. I like having an extra something like this to think about.
• Combos: there is something I love about the mechanic. It feels fluid and satisfying to execute, unlike overload for example.
• Big Turns: even in aggressive rogue decks that are not focused on miracle combos you sometimes get big turns, when you play upwards of 6 cards and you have to play them in the right order. I love this.
• Viability: Rogue has almost always been viable in both arena and constructed, unlike for example Priest and Warrior, which have seen long times periods of being unplayable.
• Class Art and Fantasy: I like the art and animation style of the rogue class cards the most. Mage, Warrior and Paladin are close runner-ups in my opinion.
• Big VanCleef: Turn 2 8/8 --> “The Brotherhood shall prevail!” --> “I concede to you.”
There’s nothing quite like this feeling and it never gets old.

That’s pretty much it. Thank you for reading!

Thank you for posting, you managed to make me feel bad that I “don’t like the inconsistency of rogue” :))
