Hero cards for Hall of Fame - not another nerf post

Actually HsReplay has the drawn wr and played wr of every card in a deck (or overall) as well as average time held. So it’s pretty easy to make comparisons at the very least.

No, you don’t ignore it completely, and you don’t ignore everything said by people on the internet. This is where the hard part of making these decisions comes in, filtering ALL of the information available…stats, opinions, experience etc. and picking out what is true and relevant to gain a true picture of the situation. No one source of information gives you the WHOLE truth, but that doesn’t mean it’s completely useless either

Yes. But, unfortunately, that’s the sort of data only Premium owners have access to.

Feeling such a strong urge to derail this topic entirely and just go on asking questions, because things like this fascinate me.

Sorry Dread but control mech hunter destroys Warrior not matter what varied deck people play. Just sort out the draw on the hunter and do the maths break down on what cards you can pull and no matter warrior plays the Hunter deck always wins, if you don’t play the hunter deck probably your doing something wrong vs warrior. My record 41 games 41 wins vs warrior.

The deck list I started with and the final version is nice and balanced

Every expansion you have this amazing record of going 101 0 out of 100 games. How come you didn’t win worlds?

add him in game and speak of it

you WILL like this video, or else you might have been replaced by a robot or something
I think it might have to do with the subject

Nope, free to all. There’s a lot more in depth numbers that are premium but those specific ones are free.

Oh? Well, damn. I guess I just wasn’t looking hard enough for them. I remember RegisKillbin making a video about the current Rogue problem and showing certain cards’ statistics like that and I assumed those were the ones only Premium owners like him had access to.

I have to take a look at them later when the time is better (at work now).

Yeah, I meant more in-depth though, not just proof that lobbying exists. I’m one of those weird people who enjoy statistics.
But it’s a good video.

I does indeed have this, but again, this isn’t something that gives a whole picture, it’s just a piece of the puzzle. For example, Dr Boom has a 60% played WR on HS Replay, doesn’t appear to be amazing by itself, however other warrior only mechs, such as Beryllium Nullifier, Omega Devastator, Security Rover also have 60-65% played WR. What you have to take into consideration is how much effect does playing Dr Boom have on the WR of these other cards too. Would Beryllium Nullifier have a 65% played WR if I wasn’t buffed by the benefits provided by Dr Boom…would it even be played as much? Are most of the times it’s played because it’s included in the deck or is it because its a popular draw from the hero power?

The ripple effects of strong cards, and the ripple effects of nerfing these strong cards, have to be measured as well, not just the stats of the card itself

But those comparisons would be invalid.

Not invalid, just not the whole picture

Why invalid? Whats missing?

I mean which data we actually provide or get our hands on to make it valid?

How so? If you’re not measuring what you aim to measure (which is the case when you’re drawing conclusions based on stats that don’t paint the whole picture), there’s no internal validity.

Or am I wrong?
I used to love methodology, but it’s so far in the back of my head now…

when I want to choose what to play in wild I look at what other wild players play/have encountered, and, you know? I’m better off that way than looking what people played over the last 3 weeks in legend, as most stats are

Well, a played WR statistic only measures how many times warriors have won when playing that card, but it doesn’t measure a multitude of other things…as I mentioned in my post above. It doesn’t measure how it affects the power level of other cards, it doesn’t take into consideration when/why the card was played…for example what if it’s the last card drawn in a fatigue match up, it’s going to have little to no effect on the game (admittedly that’s why the larger sample pool you take the more you nullify such outliers), It doesn’t take into consideration opponent types or break up opponent trends…example of this, when the meta started tempo rogue, for example, was nowhere to be seen for about 3-4 weeks, and warrior started VERY strong, so Boom might have had a 90% WR for a couple of weeks, but then it’s plummeted since, and now has a 30% WR, but because its an average of ALL games ever played in the meta it averages out to 60%…but its current WR is still 30% (this is a hypothetical example to make the point)

There are many aspects you have to consider when you consider a cards strength, particularly hero cards, than just looking at WR’s

Well exactly, so blindly comparing stats that don’t take all those things into consideration wouldn’t be valid.

Yes I agree, but it doesn’t make the stats completely invalid. It’s like trying to complete a jigsaw with only one piece…by itself in doesn’t make the whole picture, but without it you still cant complete the whole picture because it’s still one piece of it

Yeah we are in agreement. I said the comparisons would be invalid, not the stats themselves.

but the comparisons aren’t invalid because, they too, are one small piece of the bigger picture, they’re just not to be taken as the gospel truth by themselves
