Holy Wrath/Shirvallah, the Tiger combo

I am witting regarding a combination for the Paladin class which uses the Holy Wrath spell to deal 25 damage to the opposing hero using Shirvallah, the Tiger. This is typically done by quickly drawing all of the cards out of the deck, then playing Shirvallah, the Tiger for (0) and using a Baleful Banker card to shuffle another into the deck so that it is the only card present. The Holy Wrath card is then used to draw this copy of Shirvallah, the Tiger and do 25 damage.

However, the text of Shirvallah, the Tiger states that it costs (1) less for each Mana the player has spent on spells. As such, this combination should not work as it currently does, as Shirvallah, the Tiger’s cost is (0) rather than (25), and as a result the spell ought to do 0 damage in this situation.

Regardless of whether this is the intended functionality, the current functionality does not deliver an enjoyable experience to play against. The ability for a player to deliver a single turn kill from their hand like this before the opposing player can respond damages the health of the game.

Well, apparently it does. Because Holy Wrath looks at the drawn card’s base cost, not its discounted cost. Actually I’m not even sure if Shirvallah’s cost is even discounted yet because it’s still in the deck. The discount only becomes active when in hand. That’s the logic behind it I think.

You can disagree with it. But that’s how it currently works.

I dislike OTK decks myself as well. They’re literally one-trick-pony decks; they got only one win condition. That fails, you’ve lost. But I think every type of deck should be allowed to exist. They do not damage the health of the game. Not at the moment anyway. Feel free to provide evidence of that other than your own personal experiences and feelings.

Plus it’s not like Holy Wrath Paladin is that good. There’s like a handful of better, and more popular, Paladin deck archetypes out there. Holy Wrath is the least of your concerns unless you just happen to play a deck it’s favored against.

Please tell us a deck you enjoy playing and losing against. Besides Dragon Hunter.

Cards in deck have always been at base cost, the reduction only takes place in hand, been like that since before the game was released.

Judging by your summation of the deck, surely you never lose as it does 25 damage and you start at 30, leaving you at 5, easy win. :face_with_monocle:

Not sure why you’re saying that. It’s a pretty accurate description. For example, yesterday I lost to this deck. I was at full health, opponent evaded lethal thanks to time out and only had a 2-attack minion on board.

Yeah the combo evolved in generell

Now its equiped 4 dmg weapon elven archer and combo for 30 dmg

Or probably the 2 minions ofc

I lost to this awful deck the other week. Had no chance as they used Youthful Brewmaster and played Shivallah twice.

that’s the old combo my dude, the new one has Zephrys

it is an awful deck, awfully hard to play and awfully hard to climb it, awful over all

What does zeph provide then?

lethal, every time, soulfire, lava burst, depends on what happened until now

What year it is, this combo is barely decent these days

I can confirm, the meta has turned very aggressive after the event, it’s either burn mage, op shaman, anti-aggro zoo lock or hunters

Play more aggressive decks, that’s it
