How am I supposed to collect all those cards?

So after watching todays announcement of the Death knight class, while the class itself looks quite interesting and fun , I can’t help but think that with the addition of this class
and also the fact that blizzard keeps releasing 3 expansions per year , on top of the mini sets , the cost keeps getting higher and higher.

When they released the Demon hunter , they made it so you could not receive duplicate cards , which was a good addition to alleviate collecting the extra cards introduced with the extra class.

Unless I have missed something , it feels like this time around it might be harder and harder , considering also Death knight has three different playstyles , thanks to the rune system and therefore I assume they will keep bringing out legendary cards for each one of them in the future as well .

Personally I would have preferred two expansions per year to allowed some breathing room in-between for people to catch up , but this also means that the meta will stay stale for longer , which many people might not enjoy either.

Maybe a discount on how much dust is required to craft a card could help as well to compensate for the addition of the extra Death knight cards.

I would honestly like to Hear how other people feel about this , as well as potential ideas on this subject , I do love the game , but it just feels its getting harder and harder for people to keep up with their collections .

Yeah it depends on what you want from your collection.

For me it seems like it’ll be fine. I’m lucky enough to have a spare 2000 gold for the launch, so that covers that. Going forward the only way things will change for me is if they make a lot of cards I really want (and even then I have spare dust currently). Otherwise it seems like I’ll be in the same pattern of happy getting all the commons/rares (which even with DK being added will still take less than the minimum 80 packs per expansion I open day 1) having fun with the epics/legendaries I pull
and crafting the odd card here and there at I really want to play with.

If you’re someone who likes to fill out nearly the whole collection then I can see it being an issue in the future. I’m willing to give them a free pass on this initial set/2k outlay cause the content looks interesting/fun but hopeful we are thrown a few extra packs/gold for free/little effort going forward to keep the cost down but i’m not holding my breath.

Hi,

Are they going to put it on sale with gold? because all I see now is only available with runestones!

That’s the normal pre-order/mega bundle that is always £££ (runestones) only.

The exclusive Deathknight stuff will be available when the next expansion launches. If you buy the mega bundle you get it included. Otherwise it’s 2000 gold or 1500 runestones.

As Ixnay said - you’ll get most common and rares quite quickly and if you let the meta settle down a few weeks there will likely only be a few epics / legendaries you’ll need to craft or just be patient and play the other classes until you’ve eventually receive most of them.

Hopefully they’ll make the end of month packs for the new expansion to help kickstart and there’s always plenty of free packs here and there at launch and on the new rewards track.

playing HS is not the same anymore. as a free player it is a sinister decision to only play one class for an extended time no matter the meta.
You get such limited resources that you need to really sacrifice cards from other classes to focus on your favourite.
or you can keep the cards you get and create sub-par decks with little to no chances to progress and limit your chances further more.
At one time I was playing like that, and to have competitive decks in a single class I had to basically dust everything I could from 1-2-3 other classes I barely play.

Blizzard was never free to play friendly…it is almost december new expansion and I barely collected 4500 gold since the last one. I spent 2000 on the mini-set and have 2500 more. maybe in the next month I’ll get 500 more, and I play daily and every month I climb to diamond with great suffering. so an average player in the time of an expansion can rack up around 5k gold realistically. That is nearly not enough to get every card.

If you feel that the free to play model is less sustainable than before, and it figures, because the expansions and new content are coming out at a greater rate than how it’s been at the beginning, you can consider investing some money.

Look, I understand the reservations because I used to be an f2p just like you, but look at this practically.

You’re grinding your way every day to get some Gold and packs coasting along with cards you have, which are surely not enough.

What is the essence of this? It’s work. Farming is work, and sometimes it’s not easy work, depending on how you feel about farming, in general.

Now, work is something you get paid for by your employer. But if you put together all those hours you invested playing Hearthstone and converted them to money, you’ll see that you would have gotten many more cards for that money than what the usual grind gives you.

This applies to almost everything in our daily lives: you want something faster, you spend money to get it.

You need your mail package delivered to you in two days, you pay for expedited delivery. If you don’t mind waiting, you can make do with free delivery and wait for 6 months for something to arrive at your doorstep.

You need to get somewhere fast, you hop on a bus and pay the fare or take the family car and burn fuel to get to your destination.
There’s always this tug of war between time and money; those are the main currencies of our daily lives.

Right now, you’re spending time to save money, but there are times when the spending is disproportionate to the gain.
Ultimately, you decide what you do.

I’m just telling you time and money are one and the same.

I genuinely don’t understand this. You do better than me, yet have half the gold? (I typically meme it up)

It’s not like I play a crazy amount or anything, am gona finish the expansion at around level 200 on the reward track, so about half way, yet I’ve already got 10000 gold since the last expansion (so 8000 cause miniset).

Yeah, Ixnay is correct. If you play daily and collected 4500 gold only, you must be doing something wrong. Do you finish all daily and weekly quests? Do you try to finish easy achievements which provide XP?
