How to beat double Tickatus Jaraxxsus warlock?

I think this demon hunter homebrew can do it quite well.

Thoughts?

Play aggro and hope they don’t tickatus on curve.

Nice.

If you’re playing aggro vs that deck, you REALLY want them to curve Tickatus. 6 mana do nothing (you really don’t care about them milling 5, 10, 15 cards as you only plan to use the top half of your deck anyway) is game losing.

I think a lot of the people who dislike tickatus strongly disagree with your statement. If 10-15 cards of your deck are burned the last thing you should be is thankful in my opinion.

In addition to the effect an 8/8 on board is not a do nothing card either.

Correction. It’s 6 mana summon an 8/8 with irrelevant Battlecry.

If you play aggro, you’ll never draw your entire deck. If you play aggro and you have not won (or at least almost won) by turn 10, you lose.
If you never draw your entire deck, then the only effect of Tickatus is that the random selection of cards you never draw in the game gets changed to a different random selection of cards you never draw that game.

Ixnay is absolutely right with this. When playing aggro, losing 5, 10, or even 15 cards does not affect your win chance.

Any deck can be severely effected by a loss of 5-10 cards on turn 7 and when it happens that early, let alone with the 8/8 on board.

The fact is, if Tickatus was as a lot of people claim, not a great card, it wouldn’t be run in every version of control Warlock that I’ve seen.

It’s game winning vs control which is why it’s played. It’s a dead card vs aggro.

Tick warlocks are pretty weak imo, the problem is priest. When you can infinitely survive on pure randomly generrated cards while constantly clearing my board turn after turn and healing it’s not normal. I think we actually need more cards like tickatus to keep decks like priest in check.

You keep saying that.
And yet you still have not explained HOW this affects a deck archetype that either wins by turn 10 or loses, and hence never draws their entire deck.

If you burn a paladins buff cards, if you burn a hunters rhinos/piercing shot, mages apexis blasts and masks…

It’s possible for any of those cards to be in the deck before turn 10 easily.

I’m sorry, Jade, but I believe you are overvaluing some of those cards because you are not taking into consideration how redundant those decks’ strategies are. It’s a lot more likely that most of the cards are small minions that have no impact in the mid game and Tickatus is thinning out the deck than it is for Tickatus to burn multiple relevant cards.

Even if he burns 1 Conviction, 1 Hand, 1 Hammer and a couple of small minions, I still have plenty of stuff to draw. In fact, a good Warlock player is more likely to play Tickatus on 6 against Paladin. A good example of this is how Thijs plays Tickatus against aggro. He tempos it on turn 6 to have stats on board, burning his own cards.

I can honestly say that in more than 150 games with Paladin this season I don’t recall losing one single game against Warlock because of Tickatus. I’m a lot more likely to lose because of Soulciologist or Jaraxxus followed by two taunts, which is a much more difficult combo to pull and removes almost all chances of winning.

If those cards are indeed needed to win (not commenting on that, I don’t know the decks well enough), then here’s the thing. Those cards are statistically equally likely to be in the top half of your deck or in the bottom half. So it’s a 50/50 between Tickatus helping you (by burning less relevant cards so you draw into your key cards) or hurting you.
