I feel DH is a bit too popular

I’m a pretty new “returning” player to HS, just a few weeks into it again (The last time I played was when C’Thun was around.) And I’ve noticed in my climb out of apprentice rank, bloody hell 75%+ of the decks are Demon Hunters. For reference I’m a f2p mobile player who uses pretty non-meta Gala Priest deck most of the time, though I do dabble with the other classes, yes even DH, though I do not find it very enjoyable to play. I can win 50/50 most of the time, but i feel there are slightly unfair interactions here that lead to this deck being a bit unreasonable. Sure I’m on the casual side of the playerbase, but its pretty frustrating to go against a single deck so often, with it being so strong with so few Legendaries, or just really damn strong in general.

I hear people say “Just play big Taunts or board clears,” but I feel they forget with Wrathscale Naga, Illidari Felblade, and the other very high damage output spells/minions, clearing taunts for DH seems to be very easy, and between Satyr Overseer and the actual big minions played in DH, that do feel a bit cheap for what they do, they rebuild lost boards very easily, to the point that after you used your mana expensive board clear, and put down maybe 1 minion with what remains, you are still pretty screwed as you can’t really keep up. Speaking of Illidari Felblade, while I like the Outcast mechanic, I feel often the buffs it gives are unreasonably good. With some mild common sense, its really not that hard to proc it 95% of the time, and though some cards like Eye Beam and Spectral Sight are pretty fair in my opinion, some like Skull of Gul’dan and Illidari Felblade feel pretty frustrating to play against. As much as my Invoking, Discovering Priest RNG can really screw my opponents, DH doesn’t need that RNG to reliably kill me at all.

Once again, this is from the viewpoint of a casual player, and I’m not saying that having a deck thats easy to make for a f2p player, but is strong is a bad thing. But DH is completely overwhelmingly what i play against, and its getting kinda boring. Its not as helplessly dire as some people are saying I think, and I’m not going “just play another game” in the meantime, as i enjoy Hearthstone and want to build up my non-meta Priest deck into a meta Priest deck. But DH is probably kinda busted at the moment, or so many people wouldn’t still be playing it so much, this long after its launch.

DH is actually pretty fair right now (so good but not at the top of the meta) but the reason so many people play is 3 fold, it’s: cheap, fast and new.

With the new expansion being released today it’ll be interesting to see how it effects the DH popularity. But honestly compared to a few months back there are way fewer DH about, was actually dumb, even if understandable, at the start of the previous expansion.

And from today DH have a new FREE legendary “soulciologist malicia” 'cause why not…blizzard nerfed DH and after that kids and noobs who spammed everyone with a DH started to cry how unfaired nerfed he is and now they will make him again OP and ofcourse,t6hey’ll again ruin fun gameplay for every normal player…

Everyone logging in today will get a random free legendary. They did not give for free to everyone Soulciologist Malicia. Me and my friend got High Abbess Alura, while others i heard got different ones.

I believe DH still has got a lot of very good cards overstated. They did nerf him and in the general view of the game they have diminished, bot in quantity and in winrate. That doesn’t mean they are gone, or are fair, cause they still just mainly go face and output a lot of damage, especially if they draw very very well. So they are not dominant and are in a goodish position (this before the expansion). With the new expansion that started today who knows, we’ll have to see the data.

But i believe your problem is playing at the beginners rank. If i recall they gave away for free the DH deck when it came out, just completing the prologue of the Story Mode. So it’s free, it’s super easy to play (just play everything and go face, mostly) and probably even common. I feel you, i don’t like to play against them, but i think as soon as you get out of the beginner ranks you should start feeling better. But i will side with you: DH is still a very strong class with an annoying aggro style of play.

blad DH is bare overpowered blizz need to remove it from the game quicktime cuz.

I don’t think it needs to be removed from the game or anything, but especially after looking at their new cards, DH just isn’t very fun to play against at the best of times. Hell, now they have really good hand disruption too, which imo is pretty unreasonable. I feel that other classes at least need some love for beginners too. And that a few interactions in DH toned down a lot. Because some things that can happen are pretty unfair to play against imo
