I see an opportunity here

Lemme give you guys the lowdown of what I’m thinking here…:sunglasses:

Ok, so as you may have seen, this entire forum has flooded with drama posts relating to the whole Blitzchung bother, receiving mixed reactions from us forum regulars here. Some support it. Some are against it. Some just want to take the complete p*** out of it.

While all this is boiling up, some madlads from Reddit came up with the silly idea of turning the Overwatch Hero, Mei, into a symbol of Hong Kong rebellion. I’ll get round to providing some images and other info when I can (my phone is a very crude device).

This is a really crafty move. If the people on the internet s***post enough to make Mei a symbol of the Hong Kong Protests, then China may ban Overwatch, effectively damaging Blizzard’s revenue from China. In reaction, Blizzard may just choose to remove Mei from Overwatch altogether to appease China. This, in turn will upset a certain portion of the Overwatch community and generate further backlash, goodness knows what’d happen then?

Point is, if we can somehow make certain card art like Felstalker or Headcrack a symbol of Hong Kong Protests? What would Blizzard do? What if Jaina Proudmoore became a symbol of the protests as well? They could completely change them cosmetically, even… dare I say it… change the art?

(I can smell an incoming commotion coming from a mile away)

Besides the fact she’s the basic Mage hero in Hearthstone, Jaina Proudmoore is a major character in World of Warcraft. If the censored Jaina portrait becomes a large enough symbol of rebellion, would China then get upset about Warcraft or Hearthstone? If Blizzard is truly trying to appease the Chinese market, what would they do to Jaina, and what reaction would it bring?

Just an idea. A really silly idea.
I’m just gonna submit my application to the League of E.V.I.L real quick…

Should be Tracer instead.

The Jaina clievege rework is certainly a Honkhonk supporting one!

One problem with that.

I’m already tracer.

Delete as appropriate based upon where you are in the space-time continuum.

Well whattaya waitin for? get out there and make some Jaina Cleavage Hong Kong memes, comrade! The Reddit karma shall be sweet!

It’s important to note that Winnie the Pooh was banned because of memes originating within the Chinese internet. Chinese users are banned from most Western sites and I’m sure you won’t be seeing these pro-HK Mei memes leaking on Weibo, WeChat, TikTok or QQ anytime soon.

If China didn’t lock down information so effectively, I could see this working but nah.
