Jr. tomb diver doesnt activate/count mysterious tome

even tho mysterious tome clearly states the keyword “play” the spells and the tomb diver states secrets that were “played” it doesn’t activate from one each other. its quite annoying as its a very hard card to activate as there is not a lot of card buckets containing spells.

pls fix this annoying bugged interaction blizzard

I don’t think it’s a bug, but just bad wording on the card. we had this a while ago with mysterious challenger whose text read “play a secret from your deck”, which was a wrong use of the term ‘play’ (judged by what it means on all the other cards).

the play mechanic counts a card as played if you put it from your hand into the battlefield by paying its mana cost.

so mysterious tome should read something like “summon 3 secrets” or “put 3 secrets from your deck into the battlefield”. then it would be clear that it doesn’t trigger tomb diver.

if so it should be “cast 3 secrets”.

Jr. Tomb Diver reads: “If you played six secrets this game”
When you have Mysterious Tome, it is the tome that plays three random secrets. Not you.

The problem with “play” vs “cast” does not really play a role here (though changing the wording to “cast” would still be a good idea). That problem was only an issue with Masked Contender, which now “casts” but originally “played” a secret, but didn’t trigger Secretkeeper (which should trigger regardless of who plays the secret).

“Physically use 3 secret cards” is what we need but don’t get. Gosh…

I would rather word it either like this: “Play 3 Secrets. These count as being played by you.”
Or like this: “Your hero plays 3 secrets.”

yes but if we use that we should also include “those interact with Kirim’Tor Mage, Kabal crystal Runner, …” etc.
you think that’d be better tho?

there is caring for linguistic accuracy (with the goal of avoiding certain misunderstandings which cause frustration). and then there is blowing something to ridiculous proportions and criticizing the result.

believe it or not, but everyone else in this thread is trying to be constructive.

I didn’t say someone wasn’t, I did take Roga’s reply as a joke since it was directed to my reply while being one level deeper into what I did, that being the generic mild mockery everyone (besides BigHugger) uses around here. Mockery also serves the purpose of raising awareness and solving certain problems if we look at satirical commedy for example.

This thing is been a problem since I started playing in WotOG, I fell for it thinking Crystal Runner would get a discount from Mad Scientist, I think this is the over all most common and constant problem people deal with in HS and it’s ironic that the balance team still justifies exagerated nerfs with “We wanted to keep the card simple for new players” when the suggested nerf is in the neighborhood of “Fiery War Axe: 2 mana 2/2 if your hero is damaged gain +1 attack”

hmm I didn’t think Roga was joking. but I didn’t see that he was replying to you. unfortunately it only publicly displays a post as a reply if it doesn’t directly follow the post it replies to.

I apologize if I treated you unfairly.

I’ve never had a problem with being kicked around really, not saying that’s what you do, it’s self imposed chenzorship that sometimes bothers me.

I mean, I wasn’t joking. If the secret interactions on certain cards were changed I wouldn’t be opposed to it personally and I could imagine something like what I said being used (But hey, I ain’t on the team. Ben Brode, hook me up brah)

Other than that though, “Physically use 3 secret cards” makes me think of your CD drive printing out 3 cards that you need to insert into some sort of punch card slot in your old 70’s printer in order to play them. Kinda like those physical card reveals we sometimes get.
That’d be awesome.

EDIT: I just thought of Illidan with warglaives that has Yu-Gi-Oh style blades. Make it it happen Blizzard!

Dude, I totally forgot of that meme.
Slifer The Sky Dragon bless you.

So you are asking for a gamechange, rather than a text change to clarify the interaction.
I think Blizzard deliberatly designed it this way. Jr. Tomb Diver would become too strong if you can get the first three secrets for free from a passive.
