Loatheb. (and the at least 15 characters)

At first I loved this card but now with cards like Sudderwok and the whole battlecry package of shaman and the neutral one it makes me hate the game.
And I don’t believe it’s Shudderwok’s fault, when Loatheb was printed it was a control card, now it is a card that allows aggro decks to take an extra turn and abused with Shudderwok and Dirty Rat destroys the hand of the opponent, it’s not just Shudderwok but this messing too much with your opponent thingy, yesterday a warrior milled one card in 16 and got my Shirvallah, the only way he could have won, and it didn’t feel half as bad.

EDIT: And I see this card everywhere too, it’s just a bad experience unless you play zoo

inconspicously hides his Jadewock deck with Loatheb tech

Ehe, yes, very unfun! Would never stoop to such levels!

Loatheb was also in aggro decks as well as a way to protect their board. Admittedly it was a combination of it being good in those decks, plus the 5 and 6 slot being weak in most aggro decks who were all running shredder on 4 and boom on 7. Was even the 5 in the Christmas tree Paladin, albeit the weakest part of their 1-8 curvestone plan.

I don’t think Loatheb is the problem to be quite honest. Cards that replay, or perform a chain of actions based on specific things you’ve done within a game, are the problem.

I know Shudderwock already got one nerf, but it’s still a ridiculous card, same with Zul’Jin and Yogg Saron, though admittedly at least Yogg is unpredictable.

This ^^

I use Shudderwock in my Jade Shaman. I admit I left out some cards intentionally so I wouldn’t feel dirty when using it. It’s still a massive move, potentially clearing the board, healing me and putting a couple of Jade Golems up.

The cards I left out are what makes Shudderwock problematic, in my opinion: Grumble and Doppleganster. I would love to see a world with Shudderwock at 10 mana and no Grumble or Doppleganster, or at least, not Grumble.

This said I have no issue whatsoever with Loatheb. I think it’s a great card, really. If Shudderwock makes it too powerful, it’s on ol’Shudder, not ol’Loathy.

Definitely, although, one thing I would love to see is stealing a shudderwock on my pogo-hopper deck and throwing it out late game for the lols :joy::joy::joy:

Well I think messing with your opponent’s resources is worse than having a chain of actions, I could see a nerf to wocky, it’s not a saint of course, but my unpopular opinion this time was that having ways to restrict your opponent from the basics of the game is a bad thing, I saw a priest play multiple Loathebs against me, I saw paladins playing this twice and two Dubukes and those cards kind of won them the game alone which I don’t think should be possible.

Blizzard took too radical measures to counter certain ranges of decks such as Eater of secrets, which was rather fine, you could play around it, it was generally bad to have against 6 classes and it did not entirely shut down an archetype, then we have cards like Gnomferatu which is potentially the ultimate high roll card (burn mech’thun) but still not as bad as Dirty rat I think, because you have control over Dirty Rat, you can abuse it and say you played it with skill while gnomferatu is very hard to abuse, after this we have Skulking Geist which is actually one of the best and worst designed cards, on one hand it has multiple uses, it could destroy cards like Cold Blood and the soularium but also ruin the plan of a jade druid for good, which I don’t like at all, I’d prefer changing everything that is problematic instead of adding shut downs, I’d rather play with a jade idol that shuffles 3-6 “summon a jade idol” in the deck rather than with no jade idol

But then again I like tight matches, not highlights

Loatheb by itself is competely fine. It can be heavily disruptive when played at a good moment, but it can also have no impact whatsoever. Loatheb can also leave some decisions to your opponent: play the spell for its increased cost, use all his mana on minions or only use part of his mana.

I’d even be okay with the Shudderwock-Loatheb combination as long as Wock can’t copy itself into infinity.
