Losing BG perks was a poor decision

So last season I paid for the $80 card bundle. The first time I’ve ever gotten the most expensive hearthstone bundle. (They get almost $300/year from me for this one game.) I bought the bundle because I wanted the hero portrait and I really wanted to get those Battlegrounds perks right away. As soon as I opened all my bundle packs I instantly had the perks. I love battlegrounds. And honestly, the “perks” feel like something that already belongs in the game. I was a little disappointed with them but I was glad they were there. Here we are in Ashes of Outland and I go to play battlegrounds only to find that all my “perks” are gone.

Seriously? I can’t even see what my game stats are? That’s a perk you have to pay for? Picking between 3-4 heroes, not a huge deal to me but I do feel that those who pay and get that perk have an advantage. I refuse to pay another $20 after I just dropped $50 on the cheaper season bundle. I tried to raise the gold but when I got to around 7-900 I got frustrated that I couldn’t open any new packs. Ashes just came out yo, I want to play with the new cards. So what, I either pay $20 more or wait 1-2 months without opening any Ashes packs just so I can be on an even playing ground with other players and have access to my own game stats? I could care less about “early release” heroes. I just want my stats and the ability to pick from the same number of heroes everyone else can.

I’ve been playing hearthstone for years now. I think 3-4 years? I’ve never been mad at a business decision before. I mean “really” mad. But this makes me “Really” mad. I feel like I paid extra for these BG elements that made BG enjoyable and then had them taken away and asked to shell out more money to get them back. That just feels slimy and greedy and not respecting me as a paying player whose paid close to $1200 on this mobile game since I first started playing. These perks should be free for those who have already earned them. I earned these perks, I shouldn’t have to pay for them like some kind of Netflix subscription service. It should be a one and done thing. Come on hearthstone.

Oh and one more thing, it’s really annoying that almost every time I finish a battlegrounds game the tavern guy tells me that I should rethink my strategy and then promote the perks. Like a little “f-U, I got your stuff. Give me your money if you want it back” after every single game.

Yeah it does suck that it punishes players who want to play both modes.

The one thing I will say in their defence is the changes to duplicates means if you clear all your dailies you do get enough gold to get pretty much exactly all the commons/rares from packs plus the perks, but yeah, I’ll be going the 2 hero, no stats route after my perks wear out this time.

If you had said that changing the perks requirement from “get 30 packs” to “buy battlepass for $20” was a poor decision, I would instantly agree.

But after reading what you wrote, I’m afraid that in your case the response has to be “paying for something without reading what you pay for was a poor decision”.
The BG perks have been clearly advertised as lasting until the next expansion releases. That is the case now, and that also was the case when BG just released and you got the perks as part of the prerelease bundle. You knew, or at least could have known right from the start, that you would enjoy the perks until the day of the next expansion release.

I myself am REALLY unhappy with Blizzard’s decision to change the requirement for getting access to the perks. I have written about that a few times already.
But if we want Blizzard to take our feedback seriously, then at least start by making sure the feedback is valid. Yours isn’t. Your feedback is “you gave me exactly what I offered but I didn’t really pay attention and now I’m upset because you didn’t give me what I think you offered”.
