Do you use the card to freeze your opponents card?
Or do you use it on one of your cards?
I use it on my Magtheridon to trigger his awakening effect after he was already awakened.
And yes, it works.

The fun of Maiev, and why it’s such a good card, is that you can completely lock down an enemy minion for 2 turns. It can’t be destroyed, it’s not in the deck, it can’t use abilities, it’s nothing for 2 turns. Also when it awakens it can’t even attack.
Another bonus is that it can be used to trigger awaken effects over again, like the demon hunter minion or Magtheradon
also you basicly block one place for a minion on the opponent board
