So I’m a noob, kinda… played before, but not even 4 months alltogether but I got sick of all the p2w. So guess what. I thought the issue was fixed, won a lot… that is, till I reached Silver… I’m silver 5 and every one of my opponents has noticeable things… I’m just a plain old Anduin, they are Khadgar and Pirates and Felheart WoW set Guldan. And Im guessing a lot of these are like older. So how is it that I’m playing against all of these older accounts with obviously plenty money spent on it… in Silver 5? Is that where the bad pay to win players begin to show up?
Account age has nothing to do with matchmaking. What matters is their Matchmaking Rating, or MMR for short.
It’s a value that goes up and down as you win and lose games. Win streaks get you bigger boosts to your MMR. Based on that value, you’re matched up with someone at a similar value, with the value difference becoming bigger the longer the matchmaking takes in order to not have you wait for hours for a match.
Furthermore, some of those hero portraits like Khadgar can be purchased with gold in the Collection tab by finding the portrait and clicking it. So they very well could be F2Ps.
EDIT: Furthermore, there is no such thing as Pay 2 Win in this game. You get packs the same as everyone else, payers just get more of them the more they spend. In the past the game did have too little in the way of F2P support but with the Reward Track system it’s gotten a lot better.
