I’m really stuggling with this and I have a 1st In Maths so it really shouldn’t be difficult. I think it’s just that people tend to be very bad at explaining things clearly in general.
I googled it and according to Vicious Syndicate, having 2 x Owl on board gives triple Spell Damage, but the math doesn’t seem right to me. Can someone please tell me what my Sparkling Vial, Swipe and Living Roots will do with 2 x Owl and either 1 or 0 Dollhouses activated, with a breakdown of the arithmetic?
I think I’m right in saying that a Vial will do 20 with 2 x Owl and a dollhouse, but the question is why? It seems that with 2 Owls, a unit with +1 Spell Damage may grant +6 Spell damage (since 6x1(1st owl)+6x1(2nd Owl)+6x1(Dollhouse)+2(Vial) = 20), but if so, why?
I’m not sure if Owlonius actually stacks beyond the +1 Spell Damage. Or if it did then I think it would actually quadruple the damage cuz you double the double.
Let’s go with the first one with a dollhouse activated: +2 spell damage from the owls and +1 from the dollhouse, leaving us with 3. Spell damage multipliers are calculated after the total damage is figured out so Sparkling Phial would therefore deal (2 + 3) x 2 = 10. After that you’d cast a free Swipe for (4 + 3) x 2 = 14 to the main target and (1 + 3) x 2 = 8 to everything else. Follow that up with the Living Roots (Another 10 cuz the same damage as Phial).
Now if the Owls do stack, then the math changes; the multipliers become x 4 instead. So (2 + 3) x 4 = 20; (4 + 3) x 4 = 28; (1 + 3) x 4 = 16.
Thanks. Well I definitely recall Vial doing 20 in the situation I was in. I’m sure I had 2 owls but I’m not sure if I had 1 or 2 dollhouses activated, so the next question is ‘Is there a situation where Vial deals 20 with 2 x Owl and 2 x dollhouse?’. The answer appears to be no to me at a first glance and so the only explanation you provided which could be right is your 2nd one with the x 4 from Owls. By the way, in that case Swipe would do 28 rather than 27, but your explanation was good.
Ah, apparently I accidentally a number. I’ll fix that, but yeah, if it’s the latter then the world’s your oyster I guess. Throw those vials so hard at their faces that they explode. Have fun.
