Do you know a class that everyone misses on Ladder? Paladin! And I am not talking about that stupid Odd, Even or Murloc Paladin, but about the good old control paladin. Why would you even introduce a cool control card like Nozari if you don’t have a card like Spikeridged. The thing that gives it the biggest disadvantage is not having spikeridged steed in it. Almost every class got a few alternatives for rotated cards (ex: Vilespine with walk the plank) but this specific card. Spikeridged steed.
I don’t, I think fuking with my big guys all day, forcing me to build wide and still having pyro equality and all that is just annoying
before Patch 5.0.0.12574
Patch 5.0.0.12574
i ran a aggresive paladin deck that contained a lot of 1 and 2 drops , running 2x arcane golem some silence and kings / buff cards and go face.
matches that ended at turn 3-5 where not that uncommon , especially againt warlock if the stars aligned then at turn 3 it was over
i cant find any video’s on youtube anymore.
I have to admit, I do miss a good control paladin deck. Just doesn’t feel like it’s viable at the minute though. Paladin does need ‘something’ to be fair, the class is in a SORRY state at the moment, no real identity. Admittedly after having to put up with that scumbag odd pally deck for near on a year some might say it’s justified, but I always did like it as one of the better control classes
I play mostly paladin now and have spent quite a bit of time (rather than money) trying to balance out the deck as best I can though it definitely seems to be missing something. I don’t use any secrets and prefer instead to use mid-range minions, buffs and debuffs. Have had to improvise some aoe as well. Consecration may have been good back in the day but doesn’t seem to cut it anymore.
Most games I lose playing against mage (conjurers summoning spell + mountain giant exploit together with various legendaries they use), priests (card steals, mind control, mass hysteria and mass resurrection), shaman (murloc shamans), druids (token druids and lucent bark druids) and rogues (too many reasons to mention). Seem to win most games against warlock, hunters and other paladins. Warriors I seem neutral towards though always leave the game now as soon as they play that ‘dr boom’ upgraded hero power. Paladin secrets seem annoying to play against but only seem to delay the inevitable.
Have made it as far as rank 19 on the ‘ladder’ though quickly get bounced back to 20. Maybe I have another go at it with the improvements to the deck.
well best thing would be to share your decklist.
At the moment i try to find new pala lists because since noone plays paladin im getting quite fond of it for some odd reason because thats how my brain settlet on stuff years ago …
its easy? neh
everyone playes it? nah
break your hands and mind getting something to work well in a environment its not mend to be? yeah lets give it a go …
atm i play bazookadin OTK pala on ladder but not the list on hs replay. I mean i tried it but i never won anything with it and the prismatic lense seems odd to me.
share your deck and maybe we can help you figure something out if you want.
would like to see something new
just finished another epic game vs. paladin. Never thought I would win it but did. They got me down to 3 hp before I come back. They ran out of cards in the end.
I’m kind of ok with my deck, just try and make occasional tweak sometimes. Tried using that ‘lay on hands’ for a while but at a cost of 8 mana found it a bit restrictive (for balance would prefer that to cost 6 mana, heal 6 damage and draw 2 cards). That was the only epic card I had. Tried swapping it out for a gurubashi warrior but have now just swapped that for a second ‘silence’ minion (4 / 3).
Other than that I like to use a lot of taunt minions, right up to those 2 big fat ones (cost 8 mana each). I think thats what saved me in my last game. Lifesteal as well.
In the case of giants, murlocs and token druids: good old Pyromancer + Equality still works. Also for Giants: if you notice that your Mage opponent is holding a lot of cards, use Repentance. They almost never have the mana for Conjurer’s in the same turn, giving you a good shot at that 8/1 giant.
I prefer Flash of Light over Lay on Hands: its lower cost allows you to actually use the card you draw.
I’m a big fan of Paragon of Light. It already has vanilla stats, with the additional benefit of getting Lifesteal and Taunt as soon as it gets at least +1 attack.
Something you might also try if you like Lifesteal:
- Lightforged Blessing
- Paragon of Light (+buff)
- Truesilver Champion
- Flash of Light
- Zandalari Templar
The first four cards should allow you to heal enough to turn your Templars into a 4mana 8/8 with taunt.
