This was mentioned in the old forums and it will be of limited use to many but it will be of use to SOME,
Turns out if you have a samsung s8+ and upwards phone, you can plug it into a ‘dex station’ (sold seperately) use a windows app such as ‘anydesk’ use the googleplay store equivelant and yep you can actually play wow via your phone as you will access your main pc in your house ‘remotely’ via your phone you can ofc also play hearthstone diablo baldurs gate icewind dale whatever your into following this technique
Remote acces and controll via smartphone is noob friendly since 2012. Existed since 2005 for the masses (via the first N series by Nokia) Glad you’ve discovered it in 2019. Cheers.
its now viable though Azra due to specs of mobile phones it wasnt in 2012 in any event yes ill add it to ‘wow forums’. Or give me an example of what phone you think you could have raided on in 2012? or the masses could have used in 2005 to raid on? (im also pretty sure the dex station only came out a few years ago which was after all what i was talking about using with your phone, I never at any point said hey guys an gals whip your ‘n series nokia out and start raiding and im sorry Azra if you think I did’)
ps: BrotherRoga ive actually tested playing wow on my dex station at work via a samsung s8+ was a smooth experience even with using Elvui, neither have i tried downgrading its settings on my main pc to see if that improves playabilty on my phone.
Highly incorrect, as stated above the first N series were able to do it, and yes - one of the first tests were exactly with WoW
See, the whole proccessing is done by your pc at home, the only thing that did it more reliable was the implementation of 3G networks, as basicly what you see on your phone is a stream, with a controll overlay. The only thing that has improved since 2005 is the bandwith and resolution. There was even a concept for a game console back in 2007 that was doing exactly that. It was super cheap, celeron based with less then a gig Ram, and some integraded BS GPU. You used it to connect to a server that runs the game for you, and streams back the video to your console.
2012 you allready had iphone 4 for 2 years, 5 came out. And yes, technicaly you could raid on a NGage with a bunch of tools like RemoteS60. As long as you had the video compressed to 260x180x512 colours at your win 95 pc.
im still wondering what this has to do with a ‘dex station’ which was why i made the post in the first place to highlight the synergy between the 2? whats that got to do with a dex station?
you want to present that remote access gaming is a thing, just that, then - well,it’s a thing for the masses for 7 years
you want to present a certain way to do it, then your post is just advertising for a fairly messy and clunky way to do a thing that was out for 7 years and there are better ways to do it, that are not that much phone spec requiring
not everyone has your pc knowledge and i know that may surprise you, i posted this thread as a reply to an old post and many in my guild found it informative which ive recently restarted, sarcastic know it all comments mean nothing to me azra you started on the wrong person pick a new target?
lol, started what on who, so many questions, so lill time
Listen, mate, I do apreciate you opening up with the personal stories of how your guild rises up like a phoenix, and how popular you are in it, like good for you. But you still seem to miss the point people allready focused on and I kinda missed, not to sound rude…
YOU ARE IN THE WRONG FORUM
༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
edit: Remotr is one of the best ways to use such service, doesnt need S8 or higher, doesnt need any additionall and clunky accesoaries
And OP
one mora question - why would anyone use a remot acc app to play HS (you’ve mentioned it in the first post) with descktop UI on his phone/tablet instead of just using the app of the game that comes with (shockingly) mobile friendly UI?
lol, There are so many other and actually viable reasons to that. Btw, do you know there are a lot of mobile MMOs that are direct WoW clones? Order&Chaos probably being the most famous/notorious of the all. It’s clunky on a phone, but pretty viable on a Tablet, even a small (7 icnhes) one.
It’s a viable option for people on the move or not being able to sit in front of a pc. So don’t be that fast in judging, based only on your experience <3
The point of WoW, isn’t to be a facebook idler, believe it or not. It’s to be an MMORPG which takes a standout amount of skill to excel and be the best at. One of the most addictive parts for a lot of competitive players has always been having a high skill ceiling to reach, to distinguish themselves and get into the best guilds. Guilds that get world firsts.
Mastering class complexity and the ability to make complex decisions with the options to support it, is the very seat of how you demonstrate skill in WoW. No part of this complexity includes: Being so simple to play that -even a caveman can do it- you can do it on a tablet.
Mastering keybinding is an important part of playing WoW well. On mobile, there’s absolutely no room to support responsive keybinds. When I played priest in Warlords of Draenor, I had over 70 unique keybinds, and more than half I used at least twice in every match. How is that possible on mobile?
These concepts hold true for both PvE and PvP content. There’s tournaments based around players being skillful. It has a very large E-sports scene, and unlike hearthstone, WoW has no RNG which makes a significant impact in the grand scheme of a match. Meaning- the entire game is skill based, assuming balancing is done properly.
If you want to play it on mobile, it’s not really WoW you’re talking about at all.
nah, don’t start it, by the way he desribes, what WoW is/should be he is in it from pandaria at best and has not a single clue what was in in vanilla. Where the game haven’t been plagued by the whole accessaptibility nonsence, making all of the content easly accesible by lazy, whiny normies, that want to get everything only by pointing their finger at it, and can’t get the simple fact that:
you need to be a cool person, so ppl like you in general, not only in the game.
You have to put time and effort to get good at everything, so was with wow.
And if you are a decent person, and got good at the game you get invited into a top guild and have access to the mythic content and best items, etc. Same with the HS actually. We have a handfull of vocal snowlfakes that want wins just handed to them, and then blame the rng, p2w, the armenian priest, and try so hard to find and excuse for their agressive mediocricy, that you can’t help but wander - if they have so much time and pashion to think about excuses, wouldnt it be easier just to put sum effort and get the results.
To illiustrate it: By the time I stopped playing, I was so notorious as that rogue officcer from the bigest guild on Neptu, that persisted on using T1 armor and swords, and killed any hoardie on sight, that there were hours and hours of full guilds camping the zones I liked to farm for days. Like organised effort of more then 80 ppl, in raid groups just to counter me. And maid our main tank, 2nd in all servers to get full T2 set to rage quit for a whole week, after stun locking him for 4 minutes in a duel. Fun times.
