Possible Packet Loss hack?

I know I can’t name and shame.

But I just faced someone I believe was spamming my IP or Blizz’s IP with packet loss instructions.

As I’ve been playing perfectly fine for hours with no internet issues at all. And then I face a druid and every single turn, the game disconnects and resumes. Card effects that generate cards don’t play until after the reconnect. And it also meant I can’t follow his turns or see what he’s doing as the game lags out and reconnects then resumes on my turn.

Funny thing was I just gritted my teeth and put up with it while he was spamming well played at me, then the game disconnected for good and kicked me out, when I logged back in it said I had won the last ranked game, so yay for me?

And again I know it’s not my net, I have multiple other programs running that require a connection and tell me when it drops.

This could be a server issue. Your opponent failed to connect properly to the match but rather than kick you outright, or reconnect you to a different opponent, the game continued.

On his side of the board, he may have experienced the same thing. He could have been emoting with “well said” to express that you weren’t playing any cards while he was.

The reason you couldn’t see what he was playing is because all the cards are on the server. And since a bad link was established at the start of the game, you only saw his emotes.

This happens albeit very rarely. Just a connection issue.

That’s my theory, at least.

Hmmm, entirely possible.

For some more info, I could play cards but they’d get stuck on their respective play animations and appear to just hover above the board. I could click end turn and the button would turn over to “Enemy turn.” But the game would still count it as my turn as my portrait would do the “So many options” thinking emote.

Then I’d disconnect and resume and it’d be back to my turn without me seeing his turn at all. Just seemed odd to me as I’ve never encountered this before, and launching the game and playing again has been fine.

But if it’s a rare server connection issue then that would explain it.

Thank you for replying!

Yeah luckily it’s very rare but that does sound like a disconnect at the other end. When you know what signs to look for if you close and reopen the game it usually fixes it and can be done without missing a turn (although you will be rushed).
