Quest Mages are ridiculous

I’d like to say, There are 3 classes in the game that I enjoy most, Warlock, Warrior and Druid.
I enjoy these classes so much more then the others, that I disenchant every mage card and most hunter cards (because I dislike those classes so much) in order to craft more cards of my favourite classes.

Even tho I enjoy playing quest warlock, because there is so much variety in building the deck (the giant one, the 6 demon one, the zoo oone, and now i play one with nightshade and insane card draw.)
The deck I play now is ridiculous, it beats any other deck with ease, except mages.
I know I play an OP deck thus don’t want to cry too much about mages.

But it’s just not fun to start a game and see a mage and know before the game even started: “Now i have a 90% chance to lose”.
While when meeting a warrior, druid, rogue, i know i have a 90% vhnce to win.

I tried rebuilding my old Tickatus deck with Y’shaarj, strongmangs, twisting neter etc. But it just doen’t work against all the new power creep decks.

A complain about mages:
Don’t know how this ridiculous boring and overpowered deck survived the nerfs, and they only target warlocks.

Getting killed in 1 turn while on 33 hp (with armor) is ridiculous.
Ignite needs to cost 3 or 4 mana.
Incanter’s flow needs to cost 4 mana.

It’s ridiculous how they have an entire deck of 0 and 1 cost mana spells after turn 2 coin incanter’s flow.

Meanwhile, my other 2 favourite classes seem unplayable.
Control Warrior is to slow and stand absolutely no chance against quest warlocks and quest mages, it’s auto lose.
Quest warrior is just bad, maybe the aggro version can win games, but that’s just because any aggro deck can win games against a poor drawing deck, and loses against a good drawing deck.

Druids remain as bad in this meta because they can’t follow the pace of the game with 4 mana overgrowth and no aoe clear. (except the token variant which i find boring, and not even so good.
I low the celestial anacondra deck, it’s actually the only deck that consistently wins against quest mages. But it has the downside to lose against any minion spamming deck like paladin, hunter, priest etc.

It would be fun to have less hardcounters, so every class has an equal chance against any class. And the not every expansion destroys any previous expansion deck so hard because of power creep.

Quest mage is extremely unfun to play against and very polorizing but the reason they targeted Warlock instead of Mage with that mini nerf is that in wild Quest Warlock was the best deck (it still probably is but at least now debatable as it’s been slowed down) whereas Quest Mage is actually a losing deck overall. Hopefully it still gets hit when they do the final set of nerfs before the mini set (I believe they’re due to be announced on the 11th, but might be misremembering).

a quest Warlock complaining about someone else’s Deck??

this is the most ridiculous complaint i have ever read in this forum

the moment you press ‘‘Play’’ as a quest Warlock is the reason why the majority of the player base complaining about this expansion for being a solo game.

you don’t even need care about your opponent moves in a (player vs player) game mode and still win 7 times out of 10 games constantly.

As I said, I know quest lock is OP.
But out of druid, warrior, warlock. It’s the only viable class and deck to get legend with.
And the deck plays for the board.
And even tho the deck is OP, it’s a fun deck to play imo.

For me, quest mage is extremely boring to play with or against.

And it’s unfun how a win or loss is already 90% sure based on what class or deck you play against.

Quest lock vs quest mage is almost a certain win for mage.
Quest lock vs warrior is certain win for the lock.
Alignment druid beats both quest lock and quest mage easy. But loses against most other decks unless draw perfect.
Etc.
Any non quest warlock deck is unplayable.

Very small sample size, but I build a basic token druid and went 6/6 the other day. Destroyed the Warlocks and Mages because they really struggle with sticky boards.

Whilst I hate the Mage quest, you are literally playing the worst Quest Warlock deck against the best Mage deck. The Zoo version is favourite against QM.

What makes this funny is that all your favourite classes have archetypes made to hard target mage.

Post Warrior
Quest lock with burn deck package (most broken deck in the game btw)
Aggro druid

Warrior doesn’t counter mage, maybe it used to be.
Celestial druid counters it, I wish I could play it and win against other classes as well

You mean warlock with altar of fire? Does it counter mage?
I also tried cult neophyte, but their spells still cost 0 after incanters flow, not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be.

This wasn’t just a rant about Mages. It’s one of the problematic decks, quest lock is, also one of them, I know.
But at least it’s fun for me and other warlock decks without quest are unplayable. Wish it wasn’t.

Demon Hunter with soul fragments is good against Mage.
Ramp Druids(not just with Celestial Alignment ) are good against Mage.Mages can’t deal with such big stats.
Quest Mage is the most non-interactive deck in the game. Don’t know what people see in it.

i have no issue with dealing with mage questlines in wild. Its one of the most weak enemies i could face. its the warlocks and hunters wich are insanely overpowered

Personally, I think that in Standard the strongest deck is a certain build of Questline Rogue. It’s the most consistent one, and with it you can win all matchups with some luck.

Mage quests are fun.

Only question which bothers me is why you would need real opponent to play quest mage.
You could easily play against dummy target.
Anyhow your opponent can do nothing to interrupt your play.

Post warrior with Robes of protection, Far Watch Post and Crossroads Watch Post definitely is a counter to mage. The deck literally is built to beat mage. Aggro druid with Far Watch Post is also built to aggro down mages, as a mage you can’t clear their board forever and all it takes is 1 Arbor up to net a kill. I would say altar of fire warlock is a counter aswell yes. You run all the healing you can muster with bread bakers, healing spells, turbo through quest with all the self damage you can find, throw in armor vendors so the mage can’t burst you down. Save altar of fire untill they’ve shuffled ignites and then burn their deck.

But my non meta deathrattle shaman deck mage quests are ussually no problem. Having too much minions on the field forces questline mages to waste all their spells on your minions

I think the real issue is not specific to mage quest but any cards/decks that Blizzard releases that creates endless draw loop. That just needs to go. A card game is fun because you take turns with your opponent, and there is an exciting exchange of strategies that are intellectually gratifying. Unfortunately, almost all card games follow a pattern of producing more and more extreme cards that ruin the game itself.

If Blizzard took care of Warlock, which was the right decision, then they should definitely do something about mage quest.

I play all classes and have golden heroes for all but one. So my opinion is going to be leveled out in a sense. When you look at ignite it cost 2 for 2 damage. Everytime that card gets shuffled into their deck it shuffles their entire deck and skews their draws and making their deck one more card again which means that the possibility that they are drawing the card they want becomes less. that cost staying the same is balanced by those factors.

They need to draw a lot so if you can slow them down then you are opening up the door for possible win. If you are losing to a combo deck then your deck isnt aggressive enough. In other words a control deck and control decks always lose against combo decks. When you play a control deck and you see your opponent is a combo deck then you should play your deck entire differently than you normally will by being the aggressor.

All quest deck are nonsense, the game has come to such a bad point that they found the solution in mercenaries.

The “new” mage quest has been introduced about 6 weeks ago and everybody agree that it is completely unbalanced and therefore completely boring. So I wonder why Blizzard do not apply a fix, making it a bit harder, as it was the case for the rogue a few weeks ago…!!

Came back to hearthstone after 2 years, made a quest rogue deck because it looked fun, first 3 games where against quest mage. Only playing arena after that. What are u supposed to do to counter it, play no minions? It’s rather tilting. It reminds me of the old frost mage but at least it required more skill. Current meta seems a bit ‘extreme’ imo, too much rock-paper-scissors perhaps? Definitely to a wrong direction, i feel like i want hearthstone CLASSIC

On the contrary, play tons of minions and they will not be fast enough to clear.

Mages lose hard on either celestial druid and quest warlock (both mentioned as your fave classes if you meet too many of them use them decks) also any quick aggro like hunter will also do the job. Just an advice the best way to climb fast and not having a losing streak is seeing what the meta is today against opponent and playing the counter, you can also play your fav deck win or lose doesnt matter if you have fun.
