Question about new 1000win skins

Just to make it clear, do you need 1000 wins with a certain class to get its skin or do you need “1000 ranked” wins to get it? That would made a huge difference in my case. Blizzard didn’t say anything about ranked wins, yet everyone is acting like they did. Yeah we have win counter on ranked games, but we also have win counter in the quest menu that counts all wins, standard or wild, ranked or unranked.

If it happens to be only ranked wins, please Blizzard don’t play us casual players like that in the future. It’s not hard do be precise about this news.

since the counter in the ranked menu is the decisive one for golden heroes, I expect it to work the same way with the 1000 wins skin.

Yeah, but the question is: will that skin counter include unranked wins so far?

I find it unlikely that they would introduce a second win counter for casual/brawl/arena. especially since it would be something that wouldn’t push people towards ranked, which seems to be the dominant strategy of the game.

That sux. So it happens that casual players doesn’t deserve skins or unranked games doesn’t mean anything at all, bcs unranked games are inferior by itself as it should be, and that is ok(no card or card back rewards and less exp, and no legend card back).

They could just remove unranked games from the game, because they are absolutely meaningless.

Thanks for your fast replies man! :slightly_smiling_face:

I agree and sympathize with you, but you also gotta think about the company side of this to get a more complete view.

if ranked is what gets you more money in the long run, you push it. you can’t discard the other game modes because it would take away a lot of the variety of the game. the option to opt out of ranked with its competitiveness (that reflects in the deck choices of your opponents) is important because it could/would drive away players. those players are still potentially paying customers, so it’s important to keep them in the game.

it’s easy to dismiss this as greed (as many do, but I’m not talking about you here), but in reality it’s just what a business is designed to do: make money.

here’s an alternative view for you: the new hero skins are compensation for ranked players because they’re stuck in a game mode that’s less fun ;D

Yeah, you are right. But it wouldn’t cost Blizzard a penny to state that those would be ranked wins . I just got hyped for nothing lol.

you’re right of course. however, there could be the argument made that the way it works is kinda intuitive because it likely works like the golden hero portrait.

but that’s somewhat of a weak defense I admit.

nevertheless, note that this is my (and undoubtedly others’) opinion/theory. even though I find it very unlikely, it could end up working with unranked wins as well.

in any case, I hope you’ll have a good evening
