I am an avid Duels enjoyer and mainly play unranked, although some heroics too.
So here are my questions:
- Why can i not play the class i want… why is it random 4 out of now 11 ? what if i only want to play mage? or hunter? (is it that they all would have to be balanced so people dont spam the strongest one eh?)
- why is there no option to not take cards if you dont want to at all…
- why are the passive treasures you get absolutely random? example: mage deck with 6 arcane spells and 1 fire spell and i dont get arcane flux but instead something like firekeepers idol… this is obnoxious… i have put every single heropower card in my mage deck and never gotten stargazing… why are the passive treasures not targetable (if they are correct me pls)
- why is there no bobs tavern? how come i cant remove cards from my deck…
- why is it not possible to retire a run, without having to load and concede a game first?
i think these are valid questions and if anyone has an asnwer, i would greatly appreciate it.

Well, in answer to the first 4 questions, it is simply the format of the game mode. Part of the reason you only get 4 options out of a pool of 11 heroes is so players are encouraged to play different classes, otherwise you might possibly end up with everyone just playing the top ranked 2-3 all the time. It keeps the game fresher while encouraging you to try new things.
As for the treasures, the randomness of them is supposed to mimic a real adventure. If you go into a dungeon/raid in WoW you aren’t guaranteed to get the loot drops you want and that is the logic behind it. I find it an acceptable mechanic as people who get every treasure they specifically want will always take those. The randomness tests peoples ability to adapt their game plan when they don’t get exactly what they want. Who knows, you may discover a strong plan you’d never thought of.
You do get empty bucket options (taking no cards), though I’m not 100% sure what triggers these, if they are just random or if you only get them once your card pool reaches a certain point.
As for not being able to remove cards, that’s just another mechanic of the format you have to adapt to, as do all of your opponents. Nobody gets only cards that are perfect for them and it’s just as much a hinderance to them as it is to you and it’s all part of how you adapt to the card pool you’ve built.
As for your last question, this is an annoyance, I agree, but it only takes 30 seconds so it’s not a huge hinderance and it’s possibly a speed bump put in place to discourage people from just cycling through games to find the specific hero they want instead of actually trying something out of their comfort zone. If you don’t want to do that then you have to suffer the time sink of starting a game and abandoning it
yes instead of balancing the classes propperly you just force diversity… imagine the omage to real world here
meh
they nerfed it too… now it only resets 1 hero instead of shuffling all 4… this is so ridiculous.
Instead of giving people free choice of playing what they want and leave the “you explore new things you might find smtht” to the people who actually enjoy that… no they force it on everyone instead of just opening all heroes and adding a randomizer button… imagine
ah yes big brain developer strats: punish the player
a wise man once said: if it isnt fun, dont put it into a videogame… i agree i hope microsoft beats some sense in the ones making those troglobite iq decissionmakers…
but as of to you. thanks for taking the time to answer, i really appreciate it
As someone who collects cards for 1 class only on each account region, the reason I don’t play duels is because it doesn’t always give me the heroes I want. For arena its fine since you get all the cards for free, but you have to have cards in constructed to use them in duels.
