Hello,
Has the system been changed?
Last season for example, when I had 7 star bonus, if I won 3 matches in a raw, I would get 7 stars + 7 stars + 7 stars X 2 (for 3rd victory in a raw), then if I continue to win I will have 6 stars + 6 stars + 6 stars x 2
now, same example, when I get to 6 stars I get only one time the bonus, then I get 5 stars, then 4 stars…shouldn’t I get 3 times the same 6 star bonus, then 5 stars and so on?
Am I missing something?
thanks
Hmmm… not sure what you are referring to. I just finished a 11-1 session and got double stars on all victories after the 3rd victory. Either our experience is different or there’s something I’m not understanding.
Nah the way it works is that the bonus deteriorates as you climb, not a set amount. So for instance every time you pass rank 5 or enter a new level the bonus will fall.
My guess is you ended last month on a streak, so you got 14 stars for the win and in bronze that’ll jump you several ranks so your bonus would have fallen after 1 game.

There are three mechanisms at play here.
- Star bonus. Your initial star bonus at the start of each season is determined by the rank you ended the last season (or the highest you reach, not sure which of the two); potentially adjusted up by one extra star if you have very high MMR. As far as I know, ending on a streak does not affect star bonus directly (but might indirectly because a streak will increase your MMR).
- Deterioration of star bonus. As Ixnay says, every 5 ranks (Bronze 5, Silver 10, Silver 5, etc) your star bonus is reduced by one.
- Win streak bonus. For three or more consecutive wins, you get the win streak bonus, which simply doubles the stars gained for each win. So if your star bonus is 6 and you’re on a streak, you win 12 stars at once. If that makes you cross a 5-level boundary, then of course your star bonus gets reduced to 5.
After Diamond 5, the win streak bonus no longer applies.
Just to clarify this point. It is determined by the highest rank floor you reached. Starts at 2 star bonus for Bronze 10 up to 10 star bonus at Legend. You can get an extra star for high MMR.
I did not reach yet Gold level 5, but I thought I will get every time: 3 times the star bonus (3rd one doubled), but yes, after reaching some checkpoints star bonus decreased…so I was probably calculating wrong…
for example I started with 7 stars, got some victories in a row…get doubled 7x2, then get 6 stars, but I did not get 6x2, I got 5…my wondering is that is it worth wining more then 3 games if the star drops?
for example: 7 stars, 7 stars, 7x2 stars, then 6 stars, 5 stars…
or is better to lose one game after you get the bonus, will that reset the decreasing star? so I could get after 6 stars, 6 stars, then 6x2 ? then 5 stars, 5 stars, 5x2?
It’s definitely best to keep winning but you are right in that you can try and game the system a bit but only after a loss.
In general it takes too much effort to bother but after you lose you could try and set it up so you get to 1 star below a rank floor after 2 wins but the problem with trying to do this is that if you don’t then win 3 in a row, you end up worse than you would have been, so it’s not worth it.
