Returning player feedback for Wild

As someone who periodically returns to Hearthstone, I’ve noticed the game has reached a point where it feels increasingly difficult for returning players to keep up. Catch Up Packs were a fantastic addition for helping players get back into the current Standard environment, but they don’t really address the issue of older expansions.

I primarily play Wild rather than Standard, and every time I come back, I’m faced with an overwhelming number of sets and mini sets that I either need to purchase or spend large amounts of gold on just to remain competitive. I understand and even appreciate the faster content release schedule, but the growing number of separate expansions has started to feel discouraging rather than exciting.

The more sets that rotate into Wild, the harder it becomes for returning players to realistically catch up, and over time that makes me less motivated to continue coming back to the game.

I think it would help significantly if Blizzard expanded the Catch Up Pack system, or introduced a similar feature aimed specifically at Wild players, making it easier for returning players to obtain older cards and mini sets without feeling overwhelmed by years of missed content.

One of the reasons I prefer Wild over Standard is because it feels like a better long term investment. In Standard, cards eventually rotate out, whereas in Wild your collection keeps its value over time since those cards remain playable indefinitely.

That’s also why the current barrier to re entering Wild feels so discouraging as a returning player. The format is appealing specifically because collections persist long term, but the sheer number of older expansions and mini sets now makes catching up feel overwhelming. Making older Wild cards more accessible for returning players would go a long way toward keeping the format healthy and approachable.
