Returning player has a question

So I’ve played this game since release, and stopped playing about a year ago because i was tired from all the greedy things blizzard is doing to it’s games.

But i installed the game yesterday again in belief that things are different now, and what i saw is that my huge card collection is massacred. Good amount of my cards that were worth good amount of dust are now uncraftable??? And every player got them for free? And no compensation for the fact i already had them?

The conclusion i got this far is that Blizzard is telling us this: BUY OUR STUFF, BECAUSE IT WILL BECOME FREE FOR ALL PLAYERS IN THE FUTURE, and nobody will give a damn about you cus we need to feed new players.

Same things happened to starcraft when most of the things became free, but at least we got a useless ghost skin no one is using.

Feel free to correct me about this, i m open for discussion.

First, you likely still have all the cards you owned.
Most of them, though, will not show by default. Older card sets have rotated to “wild mode”, and most of the game defaults to showing “standard mode” only. So in the collection screen, try changing the set selection to “wild cards” instead of “standard cards” and see what happens.

Second, a specific set of cards have been labelled “core set”, and all players do indeed get free copies of those. They should be considered “on loan”, not owned. When Blizzard changes the core set, which they are likely to do yearly in April, new core cards will be added and cards removed from core will be removed.
Of the core cards that correspond to an older collectable card, the older version is still i your collection. You can find them in the collection if you explicitly set the set selection to either “legacy” or the specific expansion where the card was released.
You can disenchant them but remember that the “core” version is on load so you might not want to take the risk.
Also, when playing the Classic mode, only cards you own in the original version (those that were moved from the classic set to what is now the legacy set) are available; having a copy in the core set does not make the card available for Classic mode.

Thank you so much man for explaining me what this is really about.

I thought i lost my cards (legendaries) because there are similar ones from the core set.

So you are telling me that if I already had a certain card that became part of the new core set will stay in my deck after the core set changes? Even tho i can’t disenchant it right now?

Yeah (except you can DE them now and still have the undustable version for now until they possibly rotate in April but then you wouldn’t have them for wild/classic).

One of the changes they’ve made that does nothing but benefit players, especially new/returning players as they’ll have the whole core set available day 1.

Thanks, it makes little more sense to me now. Im glad i didn’t lose any cards from my collection. Giving everyone cards on “loan” is not a big deal cus ppl can’t disenchant them. I didn’t see that at first, because i thought everyone gets them for free and forever.
