Signature Cards - Good or Bad?

With the introduction of ‘Signature Cards’ to the game - I am personally of the mind they are a BAD thing:

  • I dislike the look - and much prefer the artwork on the regular and golden versions

  • If I should be ‘lucky’ enough to pull one in a pack - I can’t even disenchant it for dust - so I am effectively stuck with an awfully designed card that doesn’t match the rest of my set - meaning I still have to craft or collect the original/golden version

  • When I open my set collection - it now looks really unsightly with regular, golden, diamond and now signature cards.

  • Blizzard - STOP dictating how players personal collections should look by taking away their choice to disenchant cards

  • By taking away the option to disenchant Signature Cards you are effectively FORCING players to keep a card that is potentially trash

  • You have now blocked two slots on the Tavern Pass by gifting 2 x Signature Cards. For players that dislike the look of them - what use are they? This along with adding Mercenary trash (does anyone actually play this mode?) has made purchase of the Tavern Pass less appealing than ever

  • If I have BOUGHT the Tavern Pass with my own money - surely I should have the freedom to choose if I disenchant the ‘Rewards’ on there or not - and that includes any Golden or Diamond cards - otherwise they aren’t really ‘Rewards’ at all - but just trash I am forced to keep in my collection.

As somebody who tends to focus on playing a few classes - I would much rather have the option to freely disenchant cards - so that I can use these resources to craft cards I will actually play.

As ever - Blizzard is not about giving players what they want - and is more about looking for ways they can make more money out of them. Whilst gifting ‘hard to find Signature Cards’ makes it sound like something special - it is actually just a way they can make a rare find in a pack a blocked resource. If you are offering a re-roll option, then let me re-roll the crappy Signature Card (rather than being forced to re-roll the duplicate regular/golden copy I have found) - and let players get a different regular/golden Legendary instead. Or best yet - STOP placing a ban on which cards players can disenchant from THEIR collection.

Signature cards is just another cosmetic upgrade. You may not like it, but many players will. It’s like Diamond cards. How is that different from Golden cards? Just because they can’t be disenchanted?

Initially, I believed cosmetics were of little value, but that’s actually not true. At all.
They bring something to the game. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so of course not everyone will take to them.

The marketing strategy behind this is simple: if you like the game enough, you will invest extra to make it more beautiful. And it’s a sound one.

Do you play board games?

If you do, you should know that people will go a long way to make a game they love even prettier by buying card sleeves, organizers and other trinkets to upgrade the components to the next level.

On top of that, players who have purchased a cosmetic upgrade will act as billboards of the product for others. It’s really Marketing 101, and we do this every day without even thinking about it.

Next time a friend compliments you on a shiny new jacket or shirt you’ve just bought and you let him in on a big sale at your favorite clothing store, you’ve effectively sold him the product.

I’m fine with them because of the reroll option as I do value them as above the base card (they stated in packs that they’d only replace the spot of a common card).

On whether they should have a dust value, I think they should have the normal but the issue is of people then accidentally dusting them and whining about it. So as someone who would keep the signature card over the standard I’m fine with them being non-dustable as I wouldn’t dust them for 5 dust.
