Tavern 4 rally beast - Stomping Stegodon in a nutshell

First off, the new patch is okay-ish. Rally seems pretty cool, even if a bit underwhelming at times for now. Menagerie still isn’t playable, but oh well, that was expected. Couldn’t get into the bounties yet, but they seem fun enough. Let’s see what people do with everything given enough time so I can realise how wrong I was.

But now, let’s get to the good part. The part that made you come to this post in the first place.
Can the absolute unit of a comedian who made the Stomping Stegodon get a raise? He sure is making everyone laugh.

“Yeah, we slowed the scaling so games don’t have 10k/10k immediately.”
– Proceeds to make a Tavern 4 card that can literally scale your board exponentially (more like compounding ?). Not really exponential, but still broken enough to ruin games.
Apologies, my good sir, but why is this card creating 15k/15k stats at turn 10?

I think the most hilarious part is that this was apparently already a thing in early testing, but no one saw a problem with it? I’ve seen some dumbassery in this game mode, but this really takes the whole bakery.
Now that you’ve given us a good April Fools, can we get a playable Battleground?

I’m not saying it is impossible to counter, but if demon isn’t in your game and he attacks first, you are gone my friend. Better pray that you are lucky enough to hit where it hurts.
And I get it, dynamite boy is here and he loves you dearly, but you are then locked out of other comps.

Now, with all the pent-up frustration about a fumbled update in my (albeit very strong and personal) opinion, what’s your experience so far? Am I the only idiot seeing this cutie stompy patootie as a big mess?

PS: Also, delete or fix T7, and fix the duo game mode so that it can actually be enjoyable.
Thanks, and goodbye.

It’s delightful in duos with beasts vs beasts, which is 100% decided on a coin toss of which beast player happens to get the first engagement.

Good luck getting your scaling up when the other guy already is at 15k and infinite from there.

It’s literally the same every time. New season launches and beasts have gotten another way of exponentially scaling their stats. Banana slamma, leap frogger and now the new one. And it’s always beasts, almost never another archetype. The last exponential scaling from another archetype that I remember was the elemental that would double its health when golden. I whole-heartedly believe that someone on the hearthstone team is just a huge fan of beasts but is too bad at their own game mode, so they have to give their favourite little archetype something to do. The broken minions for beasts are always too low of a tavern level. Really doing a great job at making one of the most boring archetypes also the best each season. Probably does wonders for their player numbers

Leap frogger at least required a variety of specific minions, one of which was higher tier (Macaw, Rivendare) and stopped scaling once enough minions died. This is infinite scaling from a tier 4 minion.

Just played a game where the 7 minions got over 5M in stats :upside_down_face:

I do agree beasts seem to have a bit too much love in it’s roaster as it is good at absolutely anypoint of the game and no matter the patch.
Right here, another part of the issue is the t6 rooster who combos stupidly well with the t4. It is actually even often because of this and this alone that the comp goes into the thousands.

But I think other comps also do get some love, elemental has always been a blast to play in my opinion be it in apm or end of turn (only bad one was the doubles hp or atk when fielded).
Demons is bit hit or miss, it was giga strong last season but not seen quite often because of the high tier of minions.
Undead is often a miss and miss again, the strategies was always, scale undead army and done (you are done, because you are getting demolished by any other decent comp). Right now it seems to be able to shift a bit but not much really.
Naga right now is super fun, there is a lot to do.
Pirate as well but I feel like the comp is still too reliant on one or two cards. 3/4 of the cards are borderline useless.
I’m not going through all of them but all in all I think we are in for a decent good time this season for once.
But !!!
Beasts and huran needs to be addressed, because for now, they are the two comps that absolutely destroys everything.
Also the SPELLCRAFT quests which gives divine shield and windfury is permanent for some reason ? Go and try and fight a huran with full rally that has divine shields windfury on all his minions.

The +7 max golds and a 7 gold pouch quest somehow gave me another pouch after a tavern up ?

As always, this gamemode seems just shy of being good, if not even really good sometimes.
My only hope is that blizzard reverses the trend and goes back to loving what they make, and having the time and money to make that love. Instead of giving it all to bobby kotick or whoever is the current son of a wh*re who is making these decisions is.
All those games baffled because they became a mere product in the eyes of a simple minded businessman. I really wouldn’t want to be stuck making games at blizzard.

Will they remove the beast or fix the stacking? It seems like it is not supposed to stack because the build looks more like leapfrog without the stacking. You can also see it’s bugged because sometimes it stacks, sometimes it does not.

Either way, whoever greenlit this is a … I’ll leave it to your imagination. Look, I get it, but come on. Whenever beasts are in the lobby, you know someone will go to that build, and it’s so easy to get online…

Either make it not stack or remove the card and put frogs back…

Yeah this is yet another example of Hearthstone no longer being play tested at all. Even if this scaled as 1/1 - 2/2 instead of 2/2 - 4/4 it would still break the game. I’ve seen 25,000 / 25,000 with this when people get the extra rally quest. The sick part is the usual workaround of playing poison or something don’t even work because its also a zoo build.

I get that not playtesting saves money, but is it really worth it to kill the buzz on a new meta overhaul? I’m sure I’ll come back to this league eventually, but for now I’m deleting the app (again) and maybe I’ll remember to re-download it once this is fixed.

Joining the stomping rant too, literally everyone playing in duo now trying to abuse that mechanic when Beasts are in game. So sad and no fun…

The power curve for beast has nothing to do with the rest. no even close. please fix.
