Without mentioning names… A Streamer today said the reason that there is no more “3 wins for 10 gold” is that Blizzard has been reminded that Gambling in any form is illegal in mainland China. As China is an area that they are trying to expand (600m+ gamers) Blizzard has removed the 3 wins 10 gold where receiving a cash (gold) prize many be considered gambling and replaced it with receiving cash (gold) for completing a quest. Yes we are not China but in order to remain consistent across platforms they have removed it from everyone. I wont say which streamer said this as I’m not sure if he was saying it as an opinion or that it was inside information.
Admittedly I don’t know Chinese law but usually gambling requires a “wager”. Card packs can fall under this bracket but I guess my immediate question would be, can you play arena in China?
I find that hard to believe. It’s been a part of the game since the very beginning and they only remove it now? Even though HS has been available in China for several years?
I don’t buy it.
Yeah it’s more a reward then a gamble.
You are not promised more or less, it’s simply a reward. Get 3 wins, get 10 gold.
It can’t be perceived as gambling.
Opening packs can be classed as gambling (imo) as what you pay for the packs, the outcome can vary widely from player to player.
And the feeling you get when you open a legendary is probably very similar to winning a bet, we get that release of dophamine.
OPs post is garbage anyway as NetEase publish blizzard games in china, i am certain they know the laws.
damn, getting front page on the discussion forms yet spreading misinformation. How shameful.
That’s not the reason, China already has different currency in HS to buy packs with so it’s not counted as gambling
