Having started playing again after a loooooooong hiatus (Blizzards absolute Twitch Prime blunder), I can’t help but notice how many cheaters there are in this game.
Paying attention to what cards are played, what they do, and what mana is used, it’s just so blatantly obvious there’s a lot of cheating going on.
Is it the fact nothing is done about this because Blizzard doesn’t care as made evident by how blatant it is? Or is it not as big a problem as it seems, despite any and all such behavior should be stopped. (Yes, clearly a nod at the fact this game is so backwards it doesn’t even have a way to report someone)
The biggest problem of this game is that the players are focusing on the wrong thing… there is only one cheat in this game literally and that is the matchmaking itself… No matter how hard you try or how OP deck you play… the match making is designed to let you win about 50% of the games… So if the matchmaking don’t want let you go rank up, then you won’t… It is just simple as that… It will give you impossible enemies to beat because they get everything into hand in time… but you won’t… The game mechanincs are really clever… the game exactly knows what card do it needs to give into your hand to win or lose… I can say that with 9 months of experience started from almoast zero because missed a few years… The matchmaking let to rank up only the good players and just a little bit in each month. I can say that because I have payed attention to my rank increase… from Gold 10, to Diamond 5. I don’t like deck trackers either, so not using them… and still I managed to reach Diamond 2 this month… So the matchmaking lets you rank up only a little bit higher in each month… if you are good enough and finds you worthy for it. These are my experiences with my own deck, not meta and not playing OP class. So the only way to rank up is that, get beatable enemy from matchmaking and learn from your mistakes to get better and win more and more. So half of the win rate is about matchmaking and the other half is about how good you are.
It’s not the match making that does that, but the ranking system.
If you win more than 50% of games, you’ll gain ranks and start facing better opponents (more skilled and/or better decks).
If you lose more than 50% of games, you’ll lose ranks and start to see easier matches.
It all works out to get you at ~50% without sinister schemes and complex code.
I have to say that, I think the rank system has nothing to do with the matchmaking except that your enemy will be choosen from nearly your current rank but you can’t even see his/her rank… right? The rank system is good for only one thing, to seperate you from your Legendary goal and let you collect bonus stars to play more and more… but the matchmaking system is blocking your ranking up from the beginning and let you go up only if you are good enough and manage to win matches which have a chance to win… Only then it will let you go higher. These are my experiences and I have friends who play always the OP decks but still can’t go higher than Platinum 5… never could… And that is because they are focusing only to be OP… but not think right and can’t see the chance to win… This is the only explanation because they are playing for years… and still I could reach higher rank in 9 months than They could in years…
My go to quote on card draw being rigged is from Zeddy’s conspiracy video: “I used to be convinced that the card draw was rigged…then I got a deck tracker and it categorically proved it isn’t…still it was a fun conspiracy whilst it lasted”.
Just putting it out here, naming and shaming people by mentioning their account names on this forum is against the Code of Conduct that you agreed to. I recommend editing your message to remove the name.
Secondly, of all the people coming on forums claiming “confirmed cheater”, I estimate that 60% had zero evidence to offer, 35% offered evidence that proved their claim wrong (usually just a misunderstanding of game mechanics), and the remaining 5% may or may not have been correct because the evidence told only part of the story.
And finally, if you are serious about reporting suspected cheaters, you might want to do it the way Blizzard actually asks people to report suspected cheaters.
