Warlock hero power

Why do warlocks still take 2 damage from their hero power? Like sure, it makes sense lore wise, but powerlevel wise in-game? Also, since when does activison care about lore, lol? Why would lore even matter in a competitive card game? Maybe life tap made sense 5-6 years ago when damage wasn’t so huge from other classes, but now you can barely tap once or twice during a game. More than that and you’re pretty much destined to lose.

I know 2 mana draw is good, but 2 mana draw a card and take 2 damage feels really bad now. A few years ago it was ok, now it’s just too punishing. Maybe down the damage to 1 instead of 2 now that the meta has changed so much?

Am I wrong? I mean it’s not just warlock; paladin, rogue, and druids’ hero power seem really really weak too for the cost of 2 mana.

You are wrong. It’s still easily the most busted hero power in the game and warlock always receives weaker cards because of it (which is why they’re weak as opposed to the HP).

There’s a reason I chose Warlock for nearly every tavern brawl

Eh, I wouldn’t really say it’s that much of a negative for Warlock. Plenty of their cards restore health or synergize with the health loss.

You also have to take into account that you can use these hero powers without fear of running out of uses. Infinite 1/1s for Paladin (Or better if you do the questline), armor and attack for Druid (Take that, Demon Hunter) or infinite weapons for weapon synergy cards for Rogue who can store 2 damage staggered over 2 turns without having to spend mana the second time around.

It’s actually one of the best hero powers in the game it can be used to great effect with a tempo/rush deck which is why Zoo lock was so powerful for so long or it can be used in control decks which is why Handlock was as powerful as it was.

Warlocks probably one of the classes that have had decks that dominate for such a long period of time, it’s never been seen as one of the weaker classes and it’s because card draw is just so effective, you don’t need to put as many drawing cards in a deck and can put removals or buffing cards in there place which most classes don’t have such a luxury.

As someone that managed to lose every single game vs a Warlock opponent this week…
WELL PLAYED, Y’ALL.
