For years I’ve been wanting to talk about this. Life Tap is supposed to replenish mana, maybe Blizzard should change the name of the warlock hero power to something else and make a Life Tap spell. The spell could be something like:
Cost 0 Deal 3 damage to your hero to gain 3 mana crystal until end of turn.
Also, while I’m at it, it would be nice to have a warlock minion that reduce the cost of your spells by 1 like priest and mage have, I don’t see why warlock would be the only caster class to not have one of these and this card would allow to (maybe)make a strong Rin, The First Disciple deck which never existed to my knowledge, such cool legendary card wasted!!! D: Warlocks are supposed to have broken amount of mana and multiple nefarious ways to replenish it(mana drain, mana stone, ect) like in World of Warcraft, thumb up if you agree!
Warlock’s abilities, while not exactly matching what we get in WoW, do very much fit the theme. Sacrificing things for power and cards are the power that you get from your hero power. The spells and the like are also very much in theme as they are very powerful effects that can also turn out to be detrimental if you don’t play your cards right.
Also Rin did show up a few times on some meta decks. Especially funny if played against someone with Millhouse Manastorm. But any decks that used her as a main game plan needed a lot of support. Those seals do cost a lot of mana.
As for this Life Tap spell idea… I can’t see it happening in its current state. There’s some crazy plays that could be enabled real early just for 3 or 6 health.
Reads new hero power idea and spits out coffee that’s far from balanced, this hero power might aswell just be compulsory saying “at the start of your turn take 3 damage, you have 3 extra mana crystals.” Who cares about taking 3 damage when you can just drop 4 costs on turn 1?
Lifetap from WoW (which HS is inspired from) converts health into mana.
So in essence, in HS you convert your health into another card draw, which is pretty much the same. Druids aren’t the only ones
