I just had three consecutive games in Hearthstone Battlegrounds that made me question why there isn’t a reporting system for teammates. Let me break it down:
Game 1: Troll Extraordinaire
This player was spamming nonsense pings like their life depended on it, and buying the most useless minions imaginable. Zero synergy, zero strategy, just chaos. We didn’t even make it to the second Trinket phase before we got obliterated. It was clear they weren’t even trying to play properly.
Game 2: The Quillboar Enthusiast
I was running an Ancestral Automaton build with Mechs, and my Trinkets were set to copy my leftmost minion and resummon the first Mech that dies. Perfect setup, right? Nope. My teammate decided to funnel me Quillboars the entire game. The cherry on top? They hit a triple and skipped the Mech that summons the first two Mechs that died to send me—yep, another Quillboar. It was like they were actively sabotaging me.
Game 3: The Idler
This is becoming all too common. My teammate hovered over stuff but didn’t play anything. They weren’t disconnected—they were just idle the entire game. And let’s not forget the players who sell all their minions and go AFK in the late game for no apparent reason. Special place in the nether for them.
It’s genuinely baffling how a game with so little communication can still feel this toxic. What’s worse, these players aren’t just in the low MMR bracket. I’m at 7000+ MMR, and they’re still showing up. I thought the higher you climb, the more serious people would be. Clearly, I was wrong.
We need a system to handle these trolls. Whether it’s a report button, a temporary cooldown for idle players, or some other form of accountability, something has to change. Battlegrounds is supposed to be fun, but dealing with this nonsense is anything but.
Blizzard, please consider adding a reporting system or penalties for blatant trolling and idling. This game mode deserves better.
My suspicion is you’re not matched with players within say +/- 500 MMR of your rank, but can be matched with players at or below 6000. I’ve seen people make dreadful plays, the plays of a low MMR player, and others who simply don’t understand the plays of a higher MMR player. I had one rage quit tonight from a lobby we would have won. Why, because I had demons and chose Urzul before my last trinket because I had a great self damage combo set up and Urzul is better than trying to win with the famished Feldbat trinket if you get the medallion which buffs the tavern. There is a very good chance of getting that trinket if you have the soul rewinder portrait
I got that trinket and the tavern got huge, but of course he left just before that. So I could only come 3rd.
I’d love to be able to select “a don’t match me with that player again”…might make the players think before trolling or bailing.
I have called before to have players MMR visible on their portraits.
I am convinced that some of my team mates aren’t even 650 let alone 6.5k like me. There are tons of examples. Too many to list.
And the worst part is they don’t know the meta builds so they don’t send you the cards you need, or they don’t play the cards they need.
Recently my team mate was playing Pirates and I sent him a Rivendare which obviously powers the build, and he immediately sold it and played a dead card.
Do you seriously want to tell me that that is a 6.5k player? Show me the MMR.
What I gain is a screenshot of my 500 MMR team mate when I am 6.5k MMR. I can show this to the world which will prove that Blizzards system is wrong. It’s evidence.
I think the issue is, due to being near the season end, all these players have been carried to 6000+ and are clueless when it comes to playing the meta. I’ve had so many pirate builds destroyed in a single turn by someone seeing a potential triple and passing the card when its more beneficial to not triple some cards.
O no … you can prove that Blizzard system is wrong? what should we do now …
Pffff they dont care. Pay or lose.
Also … they dont know the meta? Srsly? I dont care about meta, I want to play and have fun, not obey some idiot meta bs …
You’re an angry individual aren’t you? To play effectively in duos you play metas, if you want to play however you want then play solo so you don’t ruin the other person’s game
I’m angry? No, and you don’t have to play META … stop pretending that there is only one way to play this game and you are the only one that knows how to play it
P.S. We are talking about reporting teammates, not how stupid you are and how much you 5uX Bl!zztard sausages …
It reminds me of Magic the Gathering. Yes, you can build your own deck but in regionals or nationals you will get buried quickly.
The same is true in life. Imagine your favorite football team decides to play 11 pub players instead of the best 11 they have access to, what do you think will happen?
Same with HS. Yes, I would also like to play my own style and pwn but that is fantasy. So I play cookie cutter builds like Big Demon or Pirate Chips, sue me.
Players should know what cards their team mates need. There should be no Question marks at all.
eg. If I am playing Dragons then my team mate must know that I must have a poet. So if he sees a Poet in his tavern and he puts a Question mark on it then I immediately know he knows nothing about the game and is a noob.
Never put a Question mark on a minion in your tavern. It shows you are noob. You must pass what your team mate needs.
