I just had three consecutive games in Hearthstone Battlegrounds that made me question why there isn’t a reporting system for teammates. Let me break it down:
Game 1: Troll Extraordinaire
This player was spamming nonsense pings like their life depended on it, and buying the most useless minions imaginable. Zero synergy, zero strategy, just chaos. We didn’t even make it to the second Trinket phase before we got obliterated. It was clear they weren’t even trying to play properly.
Game 2: The Quillboar Enthusiast
I was running an Ancestral Automaton build with Mechs, and my Trinkets were set to copy my leftmost minion and resummon the first Mech that dies. Perfect setup, right? Nope. My teammate decided to funnel me Quillboars the entire game. The cherry on top? They hit a triple and skipped the Mech that summons the first two Mechs that died to send me—yep, another Quillboar. It was like they were actively sabotaging me.
Game 3: The Idler
This is becoming all too common. My teammate hovered over stuff but didn’t play anything. They weren’t disconnected—they were just idle the entire game. And let’s not forget the players who sell all their minions and go AFK in the late game for no apparent reason. Special place in the nether for them.
It’s genuinely baffling how a game with so little communication can still feel this toxic. What’s worse, these players aren’t just in the low MMR bracket. I’m at 7000+ MMR, and they’re still showing up. I thought the higher you climb, the more serious people would be. Clearly, I was wrong.
We need a system to handle these trolls. Whether it’s a report button, a temporary cooldown for idle players, or some other form of accountability, something has to change. Battlegrounds is supposed to be fun, but dealing with this nonsense is anything but.
Blizzard, please consider adding a reporting system or penalties for blatant trolling and idling. This game mode deserves better.
