Note: This post is based on nothing more than my own excitable meandering, but it’s fun to let your mind wander and see how far off the mark you are when the time comes!
With their recent re-entry into the Standard game with Voyage to the Sunken City and already making a big splash (sorry), I’d surmise it’s a perfect time to introduce the Mech tribe to Mercenaries.
Some likely new mercs:
-
Ini Stormcoil (Epic Protector) (Gnome)
-
Gaia the Techtonic (Rare Fighter) (Mech)
-
Zilliax (Legendary Fighter) (Mech)
-
Millificent Manastorm (Rare Caster) (Gnome)
-
Dr. Boom (Legendary Protector) (Goblin) (or Mech if they portray him in his robotic suit). Possibly unlockable for free in the next limited-time event - as per Leeroy Jenkins - to grab headlines and get players involved.
The Gnomes/Dr. Boom would of course have some Mech summons, and much Mech synergy.
Of course a new Treasure would be Give your Gnomes, Goblins and Mechs +1/+2 or similar
Other thematic mercs:
-
Sir Finley (Legendary Caster) (Murloc)
-
Megafin (Epic Protector) (Murloc)
Both to compliment Murky’s introduction and to complete the missing Legendary rarity and Protector Mercenary type for the Murloc tribe, and possibly jump-start a hyper competitive build.
Maybe we’ll also see a small-ish Naga party (3 to 4 new mercenaries) using some of the Sunken City legendary Naga - Commander Sivara, Priestess Valishj, Raj Naz’jan etc, but it’s also very likely they may just reserve these for bounties instead.
Of course, in the inevitable Zin-Azshari zone culminating in a Queen Azshara bounty.
There’s a lot here but intentionally so; in a recent post Blizzard stated the next Mercenaries update will have a bunch of new mercenaries, “and we do mean a bunch” and if this is the first Mercenaries update to follow Blizzard’s confirmed new approach to the game mode - to release less frequent, but bigger patches - there really will be a good chunk of content! Can’t wait!
