Year of the Amalgam!

Just about every regular, including myself, have gotten into a hissy fit a while ago over some calimari. Now that that’s behind us, I have an idea that’ll be sure to cheer everybody up (probably)…

I read a really old post about all your ideas for your own fan made custom expansions for the game, (some of us really need to be on the dev team, I swear), BUT THAT’S NOT ENOUGH. Ergo, I propose a group project that we can all work on. WE MAKE OUR OWN CUSTOM YEAR. Between all of us, we make 3 fanmade expansions, come up with the storylines, flavours, cards and the order in which they go in. The only thing we already have down is a name. Year of the Amalgam.

My idea for the 3rd and final expansion for this is a whole card set featured around Darkmoon Faire.

Silas Darkmoon needs the help of you and a whole bunch of other circus freaks as they brave through cursed curios, killer clowns, pig-faced ladies, possessed dolls, blue tigers, candy floss elementals, control warrior decks and dead monkeys sown onto rotten fish, to solve mysteries and uncover the ancient eldritch curse that has plagued the creepy Darkmoon Manor and the festival for countless centuries.

Each class will have cards based around circus traditions, featuring mechanics old and new.
Armour+Dragon Warrior. Wall+Silence Priest.
Secret+Heal Paladin. Heal+Attack Druid. Plot twist+Big Demon Warlock. Evolve+Elemental Shaman. Pirate+Combo Rogue. Beast+Empty Hand Hunter. Cyclone+Hand Mage.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! Come one, come all, to the most spectacular, bewildering and brilliant circus show in Azeroth! Silas Darkmoon’s Flying Circus!

I like the idea however the “Darkmoon Faire” sounds like it should be the first expansion and that it ends with stuff going out of control say instead of removing the curse they made it worse by accident, 2nd expansion is to fix it and the final one is to undo the damage with it either ending with the curse removed or reveted back to its original state where it wasnt as problematic.

So for the end of the first one something like an old god or ancient evil gets unleashed due to the heros messing up the curse removal or being tricked into making the curse stronger to make it spread and last beyond the festival. In the second year we have more All classes but also have dual classes, the curse is now so bad things are combining into horrors that should never exit, a murloc becoming a dragon raining down chaos, totems coming to life as a beast there based on, a pirate losing their edge as they become one with a murloc and the almagamations of the poor creatures who werent so lucky becoming one of everything!
A new keyword “SPLIT” so when a minion dies it splits off into 2 different minions which splits off passive abilities minions have but halfs the stats, this also works with a few of the new dual class minions as when they die their classes get split up aswell

Example of split: Lengedary 10/10
Split
“Your hero doesn’t take damage, this minion takes all damage you receive”
when split you get a 5/5 minion with the effect “Your hero doesn’t take damage” and a 5/5 minion that says “This minion takes all damage you receive” (it wont take damage if other minion is still alive)

Love the idea! If it ever happens, i’d love to see cards based on carousels, minigames like ball throwing on empty cans, clowns, horror trains, and all that. They could combine it with a Halloween theme too maybe, with pumpkins, ghosts, candles and skeletons for minions.

Probably quite the opposite, they will stop adding new keywords after a point, cause its hard for new players to keep up. So we might end up with ‘recycled’ mechanics like Discover, Echo, Rush, etc.

rush and discover wont go away thats true

doesnt mean they wont print new keywords.

there is litterally no reason.

yet alone when nothing new is going to get added id assume that the old playerbase rather decline then the new players come to the game but thats just what i would imagine

The best thing of this Hearthstone year is to have someone as crazy and positive as you on the forums, ChaosComedy. Let the year of the Amalgam begin!

I remember one of you madlads had the idea of the Scarlet Crusade as an expansion. I loved the idea. After some starting chatter, until further notice, the order goes like this:

Year of the Amalgam
Expansion 1: The Circus
Expansion 2: The Crusade
Expansion 3: The Climax
(something Old God related or something)
I’m happy with Darkmoon Circus being either 1 or changing to 3, but I’m adamant that the Scarlet Crusade idea was so good, that it just HAD to be there. Hopefully, you guys can come up with some cool stuff to implement and cards to place.

As for me, I thought of lower cost hero cards, not as expensive as deathknights, and can come in the midgame, these are all based off of circus performers, nothing set in stone for who, other than the priest as a Madam Lazul low-cost hero card would be sick.

Id imagine it be around 5 cost with a changing power (like dr boom) with each power being a reference to an old god, “C’thuns Wrath” Deal 3 damage randomly split among enemys,
“N’Zoths corruption” Discover a deathrattle minion,
“Y’Shaarjs Rage” Recruit a minion
“Yogg-Sarons Curse” Cast a random spell (Targets chosen randomly)
All hero powers cost 2

Card quote: “Its like a fun sized old god!”

You say circus, I say it needs bears.

Dancing Bear
5 mana 3/5. Auto-attack: Deal 3 damage to the enemies opposite this minion.

Evacuate the dance-floor! I’m infected by the sound. Stop, this bear is killing me.

That’s a great idea! Allow me to elaborate on it further!
Dancing Bear is a 3-mana 3/5 Rare Beast Minion with Rush and, because it’s a drunk bear, it has 50% Chance to attack the wrong enemy.

Now’s my turn to come up with Something!

Old God Lackeys

C’Thun’s Lackey: Deal 3 damage randomly split among all enemies.
N’Zoth’s Lackey: Add a random Deathrattle Minion to your hand.
Yogg Sarron’s Lackey: Add a random spell to your hand. It costs (2) less.
Y’Sharajj’s Lackey: Give a friendly minion +1/+2

5-mana 2/2
Deathrattle: Deal 1 damage to a random minion. Repeat this until a minion dies.
“One of Garrosh’s favourite hobbies involved watching a sawblade bounce down the stairs. Like a sharp and deadly slinky spring”

I think your idea for the first expansion is misguided…everyone knows that the Darkmoon event is a Faire, not a circus :stuck_out_tongue:

What an unfaire reply.

IT still is a faire, but now also a circus. This is similar to Witchwood, in which that was split into the woods itself and Gilneas. Darkmoon is split in three. The festival, the circus and Darkmoon Manor.

It’s not a circus, it’s more like a petting zoo. At no point do you see an elephant balancing on a ball while a trapeze act jumps through the hoop it’s holding up in it’s trunk. I want my money back. Bloody false advertising :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s why I’m here. To deliver that Cirque Du Hearthstone twist!

Nobody said the circus was fair.

Do the useless tickets just fill your opponents’ hand? How much mana are the tickets? I assume 1 mana each as any higher soul be stupidly OP.

However, the card name should be changed to “Blatant Ripoff”, while the text on the useless tickets should just read: “No refunds.”

That flavour text tho. Genius! :joy:

Yup. 1mana spells with no effect.

I feel like I wouldn’t be able to make a story out of the expansions but I do know 3 expansions I would like to see
The first would be mists of Pandaria
Second up Booty Bay
Third and final would be the burning legion and the titans

In just researched Darkmoon Faire, looked at the map in WoW and even Silas Darkmoon’s WoWpedia page. My conclusion: Yes. Yes it is a circus.

Silas normally detests violence, but will resort to it without hesitation to “protect his family of circus freaks”.

Names for the lower-cost/midrange heroes? Haven’t completed it fully but figured out their professions and races.

Druid: Azhjuri (Highborne Night Elf Dancer)
Rogue: Thalia (Worgen Acrobat)
Shaman: Silas (Gnome Ringmaster)
Warrior: Minotos (Tauren Strongman)
Hunter: Ungan (Dwarf Animal Tamer)
Paladin: Gilbert (Murloc Clown)
Mage: Bianca (Human Magician)
Priest: Lazul (Troll Fortune Teller)
Warlock: Dante (High Elf Popstar/Demon Hunter)

Each of these heroes (and villains) have their own stories in the custom solo adventure. It’s a classic case of whodunnit. Who unleashed this curse and why? Nobody is above suspicion.

Is the Highborne’s beauty only skin deep?
The Abrasive Worgen’s hidden side of her?
Did the Mysterious Ringmaster himself orchestrate it all?
Where has the Massive Minotos been lately?
What sort of exotic beast was Ungan hiding?
Could Gilbert be capable of being a killer clown?
What sort of new trick has Bianca been practicing?
Is Lazul up to her old E.V.I.L ways?
Does Dante break more than just hearts?

Who do YOU guys think is the culprit?
