17 wins in a row (ranked) - Please explain

I am hoping that someone from Blizzard is going to explain something to me that I guess puzzles a lot of players here.

I play this game for at least 5 years now (on and off) so let’s say I saw a lot of changes and have some general feeling on how this game works. Also, I do not think I’m the best player in the world nor do I strive to be. For as long as I can remember, I’m roaming between S1 and G1. I have played many times with all Platinum parties and been MVP in more than few games. I have some good days, I have some bad days… Normal things, like everyone else.

Currently, I am on the row of 17 straight defeats. And the saddest thing is, I am not surprised by it (in fact, I expected it) as this has happened few times before. And I know a few ppl had this thing happen to them too. Guess no1 is surprised.
For me, it’s always the same scenario. Win 2, lose 1; Lose 3, Win 4; lose 2, win 1… And after few months of play, I get to g1-2 and then I start losing like hell. Lose / DC / … I get to S1 / S2.
Then I uninstall and stop playing for few months. For some reason, I get back to this game and then slowly start to go back up to g2-g1. And then doomsdays comes :D.

If in every game I have cca 50% chance to win or lose, it is impossible to lose 17 times in a row (if you give your best, of course). And in 5 years that I play this game, I have NEVER seen anyone win 17 times in a row.

So in my mind, there is no other explanation other than that system is rigged and it forces you to stay in some league based on some criteria.
And I accept that and understand why would Blizzard resort to such tactic.

What I would like someone to explain to me is how does this system decides who’s staying in which league? There must be something I’m doing wrong in order for me to be where I am at. And I don’t understand what. It doesn’t help if I have 2-3x more xp than others, every stat better than all the others, least deaths … I’ve even been MVP and lost. I think I tried everything. Nothing can stop the doomsdays when it starts :slight_smile:

I don’t ask much, I would like to always be g3-g2, just to have normal games (w/o leavers / players that doesn’t want to cooperate and similiar). Please help me set this system to roam between g4 and g1 and I will be happy. Really!

When you did this, you know become part of what is called churn, or clients lost.
So when you come back, matchmaking is kinder to you to keep you playing.
Based on your pattern of behavior the system will match you diferently.

The more games you play as a loss the worst it gets, your tolerance works against you. It does not matter if you lose 10 times, but if you end up with a win, your brain rewards you, good job.

Aparently most game companies do a form of matchmaking that is based on this study done by people that work at EA.

This is why no company shows you your mmr or the real version of it

Read it, they are all doing it, it’s the casino chip put in you. Enjoy

My advice if you lose 3 times in a row, change accounts or play something else. Teach their algorithms that you dont like that.

I have seen guy in gold 3 with 30 sl wins in row. He had about 400 games and 45% winrate.

I wonna be honest; years ago i was a D5 PL1 player when i stopped to play.
Then i returnet into hots after 2 years or more and the system gave me gold4.
I become PL3 in 2 days maybe.
I don’t think the system is corrupted but for sure they have to check who don’t wonna play as a team and be rude against them.

Last weak 10 games on row someone leave game after he die 5 times on row like 5 min game…and 3/10 games 2/3 peoples leave and then its pointless to play :slight_smile: i love how blizzard treating with “toxic” peoples if the are not streamers…or money warriors…but when someone leaving every single games blizzard dont care :slight_smile: but support say : “we wanna fun for all players”

solo queue in ranked is unfotunately luck based due to how their system is designed

it’s quite fun for people who have a 5man stack and crush the solo teams tough
