Disconnects and punishment

Heya,

So last night I logged onto HotS to play a casual quick match before bed when 17 minutes into the match my internet suddenly stopped working and was down for 40 minutes. I tried restarting both my computer and my router/modem and nothing worked. I checked if the wifi was working on my phone and it was not. I was stuck - nothing that I could do. #LondonInternetAmIRight

Now when I logged into the game I notice a new little red icon on the top right of the screen. It says “You have recently disconnected from a game. You will be matched with other leavers in quick match and brawl. You will also be unable to queue for draft play until you complete 1 quick match or brawl without disconnecting.”

What. The. …

I queued for 10 minutes just to get a match. When I got one, someone didn’t connect so I had to requeue. After another 10 minutes I got another game - again someone didn’t connect. I’ve now spent the last 5 minutes writing this post while waiting for my next game.

This is completly unreasonable for something that is absolutly beyond my control. Why would you impose such a harsh punishment for a single occation? It’s not like I leave regularily, I know the game will be over in a few minutes anyways so I’d rather just play the match until it’s over, but still I am punished the same way as someone leaving games on a regular basis.

Please do look over this system blizzard. Some sort of “how often does this person leave games” system before inforcing a punishment would be nice. Disconnects that are completly out of a players control happen

Try having to do x4 Quick Matches because your internet falls out during a Draft.

This game is a fucking waste of my time. Don’t punish me for playing your already underplayed game, Blizzard. I only have 12+ hours play time in this lump of shit and I’m already considering uninstalling.

I had the same experience just recently! I can’t do an unranked match (my preferred game-style, as most people are less toxic during this mode), because I “disconnected” beyond my own control. Is Activision doing this Sh*t? I hope not. If they want this game-type to survive, then they have to figure out a system that does NOT punish the player for their connectivity issues. Seriously get it together.

I had the same problem.I’ve installed Hots about 2 years later and I noticed that red icon.
Any solution ?

Hi, while I consider disconnection a problem I think Blizzard tried to compensate those players who have to face a game as 4vs5 because of a leaver. I think it is much fair if you just don’t remove match points from players or at least not that many when someone leaves your team for whatever the reason. Thanks

Got disconnected from a ranked draft while i hade 901 rank point. Hots stripped me off all my rank points and put me in a demotion game instantly.
