Hey fellow Nexus warriors and developers,
I wanted to bring up a game feature suggestion that I think could add a whole new dimension to high-level play. In 2020, we had the Gladiator’s Medallion, a temporary item that allowed players to counter immobilization effects. I’d love to see that concept make a comeback, but with shifted focus, reduced power with one-offs only, and a roster of new trinkets that makes reactive gameplay varied.
The goal is to promote strategic diversity between each larger combat, without outright negating core character mechanics. With long cooldowns and strict limitations, players will need to carefully decide which item best suits their moment-to-moment needs. This rewards players who have broader knowledge of the game, and who can use the items to their most disruptive effects possible.
Lessons Learned from the Gladiator’s Medallion
When the Gladiator’s Medallion was in the game, we saw that players actively put it to good use. It became a very disruptive mechanic in the sense that it annoyed and changed the flow of engagements, forcing adjustments in playstyles and strategies. But the way it was utilized showed that there is space for reactive gameplay elements that allow players to counter and anticipate key moments.
New Trinkets System
- Players can equip one trinket at a time.
- Trinkets are swappable at the base, but each has an individual 10-minute cooldown before they can be used again.
- The trinkets enables more anticipatory play and clutch saves, rewarding players who can predict both enemy actions and their own needs before critical moments arise.
- Depending on how you play, you might be able to switch the trinket each time you go rest at the base
- Each trinket has their own distinct visual effect when used, so there is no mistakes as to what happened
Proposed Trinkets you click to activate
- Zealot’s Medallion of Mental Preparation - Cannot be stunned or immobilized for 1,5 seconds (does not remove them if you already have them)
- Potion of Rejuvenation – Quickly restores 20% of maximum health and mana
- Pillow of Landing – Throw a slow pillow through the air in an arch, and teleports the user to its landing location
- Rock of Ingenuinity (2 charges) - Rock throw skill shot with your full strength, dealing your attack damage to the target it hits
- Armor Plates – Grants temporary 30% armor protection for 2 seconds
- Goblin idle decoy device – Creates an idle decoy of you to the target location, that blocks movement and lasts fairly long, and falsifies its life as if it was you, but breakes down aftain certain amount of damage is taken.
- Gnomish World Shrinker – Shrinks the world around you, increasing your hitbox and making movement obstruction easier, and allows you to see (and to be seen) above trees, for 7,5 seconds (no you did not grow bigger, the world definately became smaller!)
I would love to see content added to the game, for it is the MOBA I enjoy the most. Probably won’t be added, but hey, at least this idea is off of my chest.
