Everytime I play I get stressed because I don’t want to fail my team. I’m playing at my best with no space to try out new ways of playing. I try not to use all my energy in the beginning and playing reserved throughout the game. I believe stressing too much will only wear you down in the long run, while playing relaxed and taking care of your health in real life is the best way to get stronger both in heroes of the storm and real life. I’d like to play at an easier difficulty so I can improve at my own pace. I could play against bots but the computer is too predictable and those matches are no fun. I honestly don’t know if I’m playing at beginners level or decent level or elite because I don’t play ranked games, only quick-matches. I want to play relaxed and have fun and wouldn’t mind if heroes of the storm was as peaceful as sim-city as long as it makes me stronger.
I want this ingredient in my cigarettes too.
from all mobas that I have played, HOTS is the leased stressful. If I understand correctly, you are new to competitive games and if so I can only recommend you to get used to it
Find frends here in forum, party up, n play, its more learning more fun
What heroes do you mostly play.
and which is your highest level hero, and what level is it?
im not sure how serious this post is. but lets say it is serious.
- hots is by far the easiest moba at least i heard of, also compared to the 2 big ones, easier than lol and way easier than dota2.
- you should have a winrate around 50% if matchmaking is working and you are not insanly good or insanly bad at the game
- so dont expect to win everything, if you are improve wr will be >50% and you will climb till you reach your skill level (slowly)
- if you getting stressed already from the game alone (not including toxicness), then you probably should not play any game that is slightly competitive
- you will learn nothing from games with AI other than what your heroes spells do, hots has the worst programmed AI of any game of any genre i have ever seen.
- if you realy want to improve: blizzard made an awfull job at educating new players how to play the game. if you want to learn the basics - probably go to youtube and try to find videos about the basic things. (start with how to gain/soak XP, and maybe something about when to take fights and when not - talenttiers)
- if you want to find players to play with at simmilar level, probably try to find a discord server, there is the heroeslounge one - which is an amateur league down to bronze rating, but its still with some kind of competitive spirit(very little at the bottom), if you dont have that or cant handle it, then this is probably not the right place though.
- also QM is the place to try out new things, thats fine, as long as you dont try feeding 15 times in one game. trying things doesnt make people mad, seeing someone doing a terrible play, learning nothing from it and doing the same thing 2 minutes again, that makes people mad. so try out things and if you make obvious mistakes, try not to repeat them over and over again. most people arent mad if their sololane dies once, but if they die 5 times before lv 10 then people are getting mad.
The game is new player unfriendly. But you can increase the level of the AI
If you are worried about losing or disappointing your teammates, no stress. It’s just a video game, at the end of the day, winning or losing actually won’t matter.
This goes multiple ways. It may not matter ‘to you’ or to Joe Soap, but there will always be those to whom it does matter. For me, there’s no reason to sign up to a ranked game unless you desire to win - otherwise, why bother with the competitive format? In short, everyone plays the game for different reasons, so it being ‘a game’ doesn’t render them all moot for everyone.
Note that ‘winning’ and ‘fun’ are two different things, and it’s possible to seek both simultaneously - but alas, when it comes to competitive games, there are those who’s idea of fun is winning by itself, and thus breeds seriousness.
Quick Match is akin to ARAM in League, a means of getting a ‘quick-match’ without much repercussion, yet you will still encounter people taking those seriously despite this.
OP, lose your inhibitions if you wish to play MOBAs. If you worry over-much about letting people down then you will inherently do so by default because of that worry. Whether it’s over-thinking, being distracted by flamers or critique, morale drop, frustration, or any other weight on your shoulders, then your own performance slumps. Meanwhile, all that others can really ask of you is that you ‘try your best’. By doing this (and being willing to learn from mistakes or even do a little research), then there is no shame to be had, especially when the game itself tries to keep people at a 50-50 ratio to determine where their place on the ladder is.
I’d rather a learner who makes mistakes but tries to improve, over the umpteenth million players out there who act like everything they do is perfect and everyone else is responsible for failure.
PS. I’d recommend checking various videos on YouTube - quite a few people who provide a lot of guides on individual heroes, strategies, maps, compositions and talent-builds.
You may find them relaxing and can then put some into practice while easing yourself into the more competitive games.
Seeing as your Avatar is Brightwing (my highest level hero and one of my go-to in ranked for years), here’s a video from NotParadox who has a lot of content that might interest you. Bear in mind this is probably outdated, just giving it as a reference.
Disable chat, pick xul, smack minions in your lane, after they die, look at map what other minions you need to smack or if enemy is out to get you, smack any minions your useless teammates ignored, if no minions go take a camp. Ignore everything else. Congratz you are now platinum player. PS litteraly last game I played, had 17k xp gain, enemy gazlowe had 8k, we were 20 when they got 16 talent. Plat2
Rope, tell me how you link vids here? I want to link a vid from Fan when he plays Xul in gm.
if u cant link, means ur not tl3 yet.
More u use forum and more u post n like n more your posts get likes = you bcom TL3 , = u can post images n videos

EDIT: Looks like I can link! But I can’t embed video…
