Just wasted my free hero because the UI is misleading

I usually don’t post on game forums. I’m a game dev myself and I know that there’s too much hate and rage going around that’s not helping anyone. But this one was a real big one for me and I need to get it off my chest.

I started playing HotS in beta and recently logged in again after about 2 years absence. Got a load of loot boxes and stuff and a popup telling me I’d get a free hero. Great! Don’t know where this free hero initially came from but who cares, right?

So I obviously decided to wait until I knew more of the new heroes until spending that opportunity. On one of the 10k heroes, of course!

Then I just decided that I never bought Jaina and I probably should. So I thought I spend 4k gold and still decide on the free hero later. Not at all. I just unwillingly wasted my free hero although the interface at all times suggested I’d be spending 4k gold. Really?! If I implemented something misleading like this, I’d have a sh**storm on my head, ESPECIALLY in regards to payment. How on earth could you come up with something like this? This was literally my most frustrating moment with the game. Yes, it’s “just” 6k gold, yada, yada. My point is, the interface was totally lying to me and this just must not happen in a game with such a visibility.

You CMs will probably not care, but if you do, please remove Jaina from my account and restore that free hero. Thank you.

You are not supposed to skip free hero pick to do it “later” and thats why UI went nuts.

And all free heroes are cheap so dont dream about getting 10k one. All of them were probably at the same 4k cost~

So you’re saying, I couldn’t even have picked a 10k one?

If I wasn’t supposed to skip hero selection, it shouldn’t have been non-modal in the first place. The whole design is just even more screwed if it was supposed to work as you’re saying.

Last I checked, the free hero pick was between Jaina, Muradin and Uther, all of which are 4k gold heroes.

Just checked with a new account (because I already grabbed the free stuff in all 3 regions on this) and the free heroes currently on offer are Jaina, Muradin and Tyrande. And they’re still all 4k Gold Heroes.

This are the 3 big hero to choose from. Blizz starter pack :slight_smile: Even if they give you back the free hero slot you still need to choose from them

Well, it’s the classic old DPS/Tank/Healer roles if you consider Tyrande a proper healer, which she technically never was, right now I like her kit though, more damage output and decent healing, she can solo heal if you are good with her.

I wouldn’t expect a better UI for the F2P game that Blizzard abandoned and has put in the basement for the novice programmer and those they want to kick out but cannot, siting in the dungeon under the basement at Blizzard HQ.
