Losing rank points - a suggestion

This is not really an issue as much as it is a suggestion of how to make the game fairer and more playable.
I have been playing hots for quite a while now and find that the ranking system could be improved. If somebody on the losing team makes it to the leaderboard but no one else from that team does they still lose rank points. Would it not be fairer if they didn’t lose points but don’t gain any either given their performance was as good as the winning characters in the game? It just seems unfair that if you get a bad team but you are an excellent player you also get penalised for the bad teams poor performance. I think you will find the truly good players would then excel to the top of the ranked leaderboards without spending months on bottom tiers because of bad players. Just a thought to make the game more enjoyable.

Good idea! This is worth testing out!

No, it wouldn’t be fairer.
Any kind of ingame statistics do not really show which player played “better”.
There might be a correlation between being in the winning team and having larger kill/damage/healing/soaking stats. But it does not mean in general that achieving these stats makes the team win. In some cases, certain heroes do more damage because the other team members are taking all the heat and cover well. In certain cases, a healer has more healing just because his team takes much more unnecessary damage.

The only real assessment of Which team played better in a particular game is a win or loss. If you are truly good, losing one game will not affect your rank because you will win two next games.

No.
The stats do not accurately show how well people performed in their role. A guldan winning mvp for team dmg with 100k is useless if his team lost because of his negative kda.
