I don’t like to use a mount with Diablo. He looks great without one and why would the lord of terror need a ride, but I think the animation is dumb when he “mounts up”. Couldn’t he take a cool charging pose or something instead of rubbing his hands together for no reason?

I think more honestly it is hinting at the World of Warcraft animation when the characters use their mounts.
The worgen characters in WoW may actually use their wolf bodies instead of a mount, and I recall they actually do something cool as they prepare to run fast instead of rubbing their hands together.
EDIT:
Like here in this video, the worgen goes down on all four limbs in a second and then they are ready run with mounted speed. That’s what I think Diablo should do as well without a mount. I think the hand rubbing is great with a mount though.
