A few weeks ago a wrote a post regarding personal rank adjustment, and why the system without a single exception, in more than 400 games this season gives med between -1 and -9 points on both wins and losses, no matter what, and how the number just increased the longer my winning streaks were…
Anyway… That was in team league… (where I was placed in silver 5 and climbed to silver 1)…
I decided to do the hero league placement matches, to get the rewards at the season end…
First game I’m playing against players from silver 1, 2 and 3, which makes perfect sense considering my placement in TL… To make a long story short, i’ll just list my matches, their outcome and the placements of the players in them.
1st match (WON): All players ranked in silver 1-3
2nd match (WON): All players ranked in silver 1-3
3rd match (LOST): All players ranked in silver 1-3
4th match (WON): All players ranked in silver 1-3
5th match (WON): All players ranked in silver 1-3
6th match (WON): All players ranked in silver 1-3
7th match (WON): All players ranked in silver 1-3
8th match (WON): All players ranked in silver 1-3
9th match (LOST): All players ranked in silver 1-3
10th match (WON): All players ranked in silver 1-3
So to recap:
I played my 10 placement matches and won 8 and lost 2.
Even during the 5 won games in a row at no point did the system try to rank me vs higher ranked opponents…
After I played 10 games with silver 1 players with an 80% win rate, the system then concludes that I probably belong in silver 1…
Why oh why, did I have to play 10 frigging matches to finetune my placement, if no finetuning whatsoever is applied? XD
It just seems so… gah… tiring…
