The game isn't dead - but it's certainly dying

Anyone resonate with this?

I rarely play this game any more. The old flame is barely alive now. No new heroes excite me. I just had my first game in almost a month, it was the same story as every other game I’ve had in the past couple years. GG from the loading screen. Either a stomp or a get stomped. The latter seems more common.

I’m not moaning, more… grieving. I used to love this game so much and was excited to log on and play evey single day. I loved haunted mines, the first version! Forward to now and Hogger was just released, and it’s the first time since this games inception from alpha testing that a new hero is released and I couldn’t give a rat’s @$$.

The death of the E-sports scene killed off a significant chunk of the player base, resulting in the leftover players getting worse mm experiences - less players = wider, less niche searches. So more players leave, which again lowers the pool of available people who qualify for whatever bracket it is your game is searching for you for, and so the cycle goes on and on downwards until this game inevitably gets plugged for good. Sounding a bit like Rick Grimes here, it may not be this year, or even 5 years, but this game will get the SC2 treatment eventually. I mean look at Fan on YouTube, in the upper leagues when he is seriously playing, he plays against the same handful of players all the time.

I’m pretty sad as I write this. Feels like a Eulogy. I’ve taken breaks from this game before, for a month or two or three, ya know to refresh and come back more positive. I always came back though. But this time feels different. I just… don’t care any more. QM is and has been broken for so many years. Content is too slow. Skins are unimaginative. Brawls were promised then neutered. Events don’t come often enough. Mechanics are all recycled and painted as new (eg, what’s different about Tassadar’s walls and Hogger’s terrain, minus the singular detail that a very small handful of characters like Hogger and Hanzo can interact with it?? For the other 98% of characters, it’s just a… wall). It is very clear the time and resources in the devs hands are highly limited.

I think this is it for me. Love you Heroes of the Storm. The only MOBA I have and ever will care about. So many fond memories. :broken_heart:

I think it was a good decision by Blizzard to remove Esports in this game. Esports are the bane of any normal players existence, they dictate a meta and companies of other moba’s panda to an exclusive number of chinese/korean players who win every year. Esports are massively overrated and not a real sport. There is a reason why Chess is considered a rule, Chess pieces don’t get nerfed/buffed or changed.

In the history of imbecile posts this one is easily top 10.
E-sports are what brings more people to the game, it’s like saying end champions league cause it’s hurting my neighborhood tournament.
Not a real sport!! now you are just plain ignorant. it represents the fastest growing sports in the world.
Chess is a good example of a niche game, cause it’s stale, if not for netflix series you would not even see that in twitch… and if you wait some months it will go back to it’s obscurity.

The characters arent balanced that is the biggest problem. Characters like li ming, nova tracer etc. can managed to do 20 k dmg in matter of seconds. Ive followed my most damage score in the game i was at like 50 k with guldan she was at 20 with tracer, guess what a minute or two later she is at 60 k with no deaths at all and people choose those kinds of broken heroes every game and its exhausting and ruins the game. Some heroes have unnecesary stuns, roots and other stuff because that doesnt balance well with the massive damage that they do. The whole thing just fell apart! People play the same cancer heroes all the time like i dont remember seeing almost any hero except li ming, nova, qhira, orphea, butcher and similiar heroes.
