So, I played 3 placement matches with the same person.
We lost the first one and won the other 2.
After the matches he ended up in Platinum 4. I ended up in Bronze 2…
Could you please explain to me why? Because I currently cannot play ranked with him because bronze can’t play ranked with platinum, great.
Is there any explanation for this? Because this is very annoying.

System will place you to bronze based on your previous game history. In other words your mate was playing at higher rank before placements games than you. This is how it should work
Then your 2nd question: why cant you play together? Blizz change to system because some were abusing it. They created new accounts (bronze-silver) and their main account was on master so they lowered team rating but still played much better. Therefore you can boost people. Now aftet blizz changed it, you cant boost that well anymore
Very late to the thread, but this system is terrible. I play about 3 matches each season, I win or lose them and get plat every time. My friends are all bronze and if I want to play with them I have to keep failing until I rank down enough?
No the placement system is dumb in the first place, and the tier divider just keeps friends from playing.
