—>alt+tab is causing input lag<—

Hey Blizzard, if I ALT TAB the game and come back to the game i have increased input lag.
I activated the option “reduce buffering” and realized that my game runs thousand times more direct but now if I ALT TAB and return to the game I get input lag.
Everytime I have to go to the options turn “reduce buffering” to off then on and then apply the settings to fix the input lag.

Can you please fix this?

Also i though this problem was caused by OBS but no, i tried to disable all my background programs but the bug is still there.
And yes, I have the latest driver installed and my game runs on a m2 ssd.
I dont have andy fps drops and my ingame graphic settings are all on low or off except “reduce buffering”.

Please blizzard, this is so hard annoying.

If you run the game full screen, that is fairly standard if your GPU isn’t from the highest end of the market.

Try playing borderless or not alt tabbing.

This is standard? I dont think so, this problem appears only in Overwatch. All other games dont have problems with alt tabbing lol.
To say that those bugs are “standard” is just not really smart because blizzard of course dont care about this and dont fix it at all.
And overwatch is not a next gen game and will never be. My GPU can run this game at 170 fps bro so why should it be normal in a game like overwatch? Tf.

The game isn’t really made for alt+tabbing, because honestly should the devs consider you going out of your window mid match?

Not saying they should fix it, though it might be better to run borderless windowed. If you have great specs it wont be an issue.

No, nobody in e sports scene is playing a game in BORDERLESS WINDOW, because you get increased input lag - just like I said lol.
Here you go:

He proved it.

I use 2 monitors, and when I’m on the other monitor the game does lag as expected when I switch back for a second.

Nice but this have nothing to do with the ALT TAB problem and the input lag xd

I just did a small ingame test and well it’s somewhat correct.

Though i don’t think 1-2 ms input lag will cause any disadvantage under pretty much Diamond.
Honestly it would be proper to ask a technical expert or something regarding this if this is even related to the game itself or if something else is causing this buffer.

But even so, if you worry this much about a few milliseconds of input lag… why would you tab out? Tabbing out and into a program causes a spike in input lag even if this buffer were to be fixed.

I actually use alt tab to go onto the other monitor xD

So you face the same problem you mean?

Yep, when I alt tab I can still see my game screen but it lags while browsing the other monitor.

what do you mean with small ingame test lol? XD

I dont know if you care about 1-2ms but if youre using high end stuff like XM1 mouse with 1ms latency then you should care about 1-2ms.

Anyway, blizzard should fix this bug.

You can check input lag with the SIM value’s in the netgraph.

Even if the buffer for Fullscreen were to be fixed you’d still get a input lag spike of around 100 - 1000 ms for a short while… and honestly it’s not that big of a deal.
Though i don’t see why you’d tab out mid game, it’s not like that buffer would have any issues onto your gameplay unless you’re not focussed on the game itself.

Don’t have anything against fixing it, just don’t see the reasoning. Anyhow just make sure to post it in the Bug Report Subforum [US] so it will gain more attention to staff.

A short input lag while tab back in fullscreen game is not the problem. My problem is still that if I return to the game then I have input lag all the game long until I go to the video options and turn reduce buffering off and on and apply.

Ok that’s weird, I haven’t experienced the lag for longer than 2/3 seconds.

Ah, the classic Reduce Buffering bug that’s been around for years now. I also get a weird micro stuttering effect where I can easily tell I’m bugged. Either toggling Reduce Buffering and/or doing another Alt+Tab fixes it for me.

It must be an Nvidia thing because I just switched from an AMD Radeon 5700 XT GPU and did not have this Alt+Tab / Reduce Buffering / Input Lag issue. And yes, I did use Display Driver Uninstaller as part of the GPU swap.

For what it’s worth, I play on a Freesync 144hz monitor (both with my old Radeon and with my current 3080) and have my FPS capped at about 134 fps (10 fps lower than the monitor refresh rate to ensure you don’t go “over” the monitor’s limits).

If u have nvidia card, try turning off vsync in 3D settings, this worked for me just because i was playing in the settings and its fixed now
